[Spoiler] Kaiser has a plan

Ichabod still controls his capital, we got the Eureka for Military Science and I try to scare CMF away from killing my knight for it. Next turn the MA with Woden is up, I likely will sign then with Ichabod to keep this game open.

Suboptimal is probably the one benefitting from it when I am going to be tagteamed by Woden and him in the near future. CMF still remains a puffer state as it is a slog to get through his walls.

Only 20 more damage on Ichabods Capital, he seems to be able to stop the invasion at the gates of his capital. No need to rush in a Military Alliance right now, but maybe we should nevertheless to hope for Ichabod going into eternal war mode against Woden.

Woden stopped the eternal conquering of Recife and finally razed it.
Sao Paulo is to revolt next turn and I expect him to raze it as well.
Then there is also one city in the small area of fog, still adjacent to Sao Paulo, which is likely  in a similar pressed loyality situation.

If Woden's advance terminates here, he has:
- conquered Porto Allegre
- razed 5 cities (I am counting Sao Paulo and the hidden city), 3 of which were absolute core and very close to Ichabod's capital

That was and still is a razors edge of Woden establishing a significant, if not game ending lead.

On other news:
CMF did not counter our kill of a Horseman for the Military Science Eureka and I retreated our forces to wait for the next set of techs.

Global strategy:
Ichabod remains stronger than CMF, especially thanks to his better science and his dominant position until Woden attacked him. He has lost his GP and has no Warlords Hall to rush buy units, but his Icon_Production in Sao Paulo, Manaus and *the city at the dead sea* as well as some minor later city additions. He still has 2 backfiller cities available for him and I hope you will oversee my slight of razing a city of his earlier and be my alliance partner for the remainder of the game.

Woden is still in the driving seat of this game, with the biggest empire (not counting conquered cities) and a strong military and a very strong Navy. His military is probably just a bit smaller than ours as Egypt has no navy at all (well a Galley :D). There are just 2 cities attackable by sea, and only one actually by Naval Melee units.
He is setting up an alliance with Canada though, while Canada is hopelessly backwards in tech, they still outsmart me heavily in military tactics.

I believe though an Ichabod - Kaiser Alliance can win in a vacuum against a Woden - CMF Alliance. Woden and me have fortified our borders heavily but Ichabod seems to be able to withstand Wodens attack which I hope CMF will not against me when I get far enough ahead tech wise.

However, we are not playing in a vacuum, Subotpimal on his small branch of the continent has already set up as a friedn with CMF, his only land border besides Geneva. I believe he is waiting for me to attack to then declare a Military alliance and fight me on Canadian terrain with the biggest military in the world. I know the least of his terrain, but I am hoping that he has similar issues finding good Campus spots as Woden has.

So we play the long game, fostering an Alliance with Ichabod trying to avoid antagonizing SUpotimal. Ultimately, We have strong science prospects and are the nation with the most multiple 10+ cities (I need to confirm that in Suboptimals trade screen though)

Sorry, I did not get to uploading yesterday's turn. Suboptimal took Suzerainship over Geneva from me. Not a good sign considering that he has:
- the biggest military in the world
- a DoF with CMF for another ~25 turns and thus Geneva as his only land border and Gateway to me
- he seems to bestuck on expansion though I remember seing at least 1 or 2 freshwater spots still available in the very East of his empire

I started moving a couple of MYC and a bombard up to defend Geneva and then Isaac if necessary, this turn I also Icon_Faith bought a Musket in Isaac (2 turns later would have been better as the Armory is due then) for that front.

It looks good for Bruins and Kings falling to our religion within this Era, that means another 4 era score and better loyality if we should ever conquer them.

A perfect miss, we wanted Ballistics and Steam Power with 3 out of 4 Eurekas, we did not get the more important Ballistics which means we have to hard research it or can try do delay until we have placed two forts, however I believe Suboptimal to move before.

Ichabod got a Military Alliance offer, here is hoping he takes it as he became fresh suzerain of Venice and that would cost Suboptimal quite some income when declaring on me.

shame not getting ballistics that one is almost always a hard tech.

will get a look tomorrow.

at a certain point if the game lasts that long taking CMF will be easy enough i expect.

Yes, if you know what you are doing probably. I clearly did not but CMF has no real way to improve his position besides a combined dogpile with Suboptimal. I am confident i can defend that even though Geneva is difficult to hold.

If Woden joins in, this will be tricky, that is the disadvantage of my geopolitical situation. I hope Ichabod accepts the MA. With wars of religion and our dark age policy we have a +9 CS swing available to us.

Had a look.

I take it you know your ram only works on ancient walls and will be useless here?

In the time i will take you to build all those industrial zones you could build an army that would take 4-7 cities easily.

the question is will you be better off after that.

If you get leonardo which you should the payback is better on IZ.

klyden is building a +2 industrial zone costing 238 production.

119 turns to pay back it's hammers.

i admire your optimism on the game lasting that long.

to be honest you are probably past the point where any districts are viable except encampment and possibly gold generators.

for me i would be going all out military.

pehaps really good campus in fairness.

i know why you want the colleseum but every city is content.

once you build it every city will be content.

and you will have fallen behind in something else.

your way forward here for me is survival and beline for flight and armys cores etc.

you can still win this. but you need to focus on that and if something isn't delivering on those 3 goals don't do it.

that's how i see it anyway.
