here is the save
Klyden is building a Pike & Shot, I have been indecisive again and was planning on slotting the mounted production multiplier in 2 turns. However we need to slot the 50% upgrade cost reduction to get our Xbows transformed into field cannons.
I checked this
And realized that Woden is building walls and even Repairs the walls of Helm's Deep, which striked me a bit overly defensive based on my assumption on how this war is going.
Checking back revealed this 5 turn old screenshot
Here you clearly see phoenician borders peeking out of the fog E of the Horse, these are vanished and that means razed as they did not turn to Brazilian borders. Ichabod seems to be not only defending anymore but to be mopping up Wodens forces here with the prospect of going for Fez and the Porto Allegre liberation as well.
So you are right that Supoptimal is the current main danger, I started moving some units from our W border E to get our attack stack to a better size. I think we can leave the Woden border defended with a Musket/Xbow -> Field Cannon per pass and double that amount at the Northern (disaster) plains.
Suboptimal has three avenues of attack:
- through Canada
- through the Geneva Choke
- via the North-East ocean
The big danger are backstabs via the latter two, as through Canada means directly into our attack on Canada, which would probably bring it to a halt as he has an impressive military which we do not want to take on under Canadian defensive fire.
However the Canadian W seems vulnerable and we should aim for conquering his westernmost city first, as this will also allow us to threaten an encirclement and his backline city there (which seems to be in the Tundra). Meanwhile we should hold the defensive position at Columbia river and start taking his walls down. Suboptimal will likely latest intervene at that point, but we have an easy retreat at a defensible position. Especially as the military power difference seems to be shrinking and I expect suboptimal to have a signigicant amount of it invested in Frigates (200-300 would be a minimum guess, as Wodens Navy is dangerous so Suboptimal likely has at least that invested)
The Geneva choke will receive reinforcments in 1-2 turns in the form of 2 Xbows who take defensive position behind the city and a field cannon upgrade priority. I have another near Isaac on defensive duty which can reinforce if necessary. The danger here is Suboptimals Navy, as he can threaten to kill the Xbows from the fog with Frigates. If he comes there in force, we will have to abandon Geneva ultimately due to the lay of the ocean.
This also presents the thread via the North Eastern ocean, I have our Caravel hidden in the ice to look out for suspicious movements and I hope Suboptimal is unaware, as it can not cover every tile, there remains a small corrdidor for him to advance, but as long as Geneva stands and we remain Suzerain, we should spot any invasion.
We could really use a railway line from EM to Bortus to be able reinforce the Disaster plains more easily, for the moment we will have to make sure that our present forces can hold out long enough for backup to arrive from the S.
The only city really in danger by the naval attack itself is Alara Kitan, but a landing force could threaten Isaac, GM, EM and Alara Kitan.
