So, I guess it's time for my random musings.

I've not played a fin leader recently - maybe it's time for one.
I've not really played an ind leader, either - I mean, I have, but the games have been disasters.

Expansive/charismatic has some interesting synergy - cheap granaries make growth faster, charismatic and cheap monuments makes many whips most sustainable. Exp makes for a city with a granary that is nearly as cheap as imp does, in fact.

um. Wow. Apparently, we have a new species of freshwater whales.

I have no idea what to make of this.

Also, OOTS rocks!!! To the amount that I shall use them as my naming convention!! My cap shall be Roy!!

Maybe I need to be financial/spiritual and start with fishing/mining, build a WB, grow and then whip a worker? This is horrible - I need hunting, fishing, AH and wheel to do anything with this. It would be a lot easier if the whale and clam changed positions.

OK - the whale is basically an oasis at this point. Organized, maybe? I'll definitely want a lighthouse here. Fin/org? slow starting, but a monster once it's going.

Fishing/wheel as start techs? then i get hunting->mining->BW->AH.

To move efficiently. I'm going to spend 4 turns moving my worker to and from the frickin deer as is - one of those is inevitable because of it's forested, of course.

Maybe I need to be india.

Something off that list has to go, btw. It's probably the wheel, but I dunno.

wait - do I have JUNGLE in my fat cross? plains jungle??? Please tell me everyone has plains jungle. I am guessing either that's a mistake or it's covering iron.

Anyone know if there is a way I can set up a worldbuilder file so I can run it as a scenario and select leader/civ? I mean, other than editing the file.

So, it looks like if I have 2 of hunting, fishing and mining, i can get the 3rd, BW and AH in time to do some chopping and improve the deer and cow.

If I start with wheel, I have to either delay one of AH, BW or improving the cow, which is one of my strongest tiles, none of which seem all that great.

Civs that fit this criteria:

I certainly will get something from that. Greece seems interesting if I end up with something like Fin/Org - I'll start slow, so being able just whip phalanxes and not worry about chariots is good.

now, as for traits:

Fin seems good for this, though this doesn;t seem like a great commerce capitol.
This looks to be a big map, so imp would be great. There's no barbs, so no barb cities to offset the imp advantage.
Imp/Org might be good.

That said, I also seem to be short of luxuries - whales are nice, but optics is a ways away and not on the normal path, so charismatic may be important.

Yes that is plains jungle. And while I can't say what other people have I can assure you these starts are balanced.
