I think our goals should be:
Short term: Settle our 10 cities, get out some more workers and grow tall
Medium term: Tech for currency and calendar, maybe see if we can build MoM
Longer term: Tech for machinery, build watermills and finally get some production going

Great overview, thankyou!
Agreed on the goals. As far as their execution is concerned...
1. Cities 9 and 10 will both be settled on T83, assuming no one gets there first.
2. We are still deciding on the order of these. If we make a play for MoM, which we are seriously considering, we may want to do Calendar first to be safe. Otherwise, Currency is strictly better. We also need construction sooner rather than later in this unfriendly neighbourhood.
3. That's way too far out to plan specific execution. But in other long term plans, we are trying to figure out whether or not we want knights, cuirassiers or redcoats. One thing I remembered while writing this is knights are on the way to stock exchanges, so I'm leaning that direction, but we still have a long time to discuss these options...

Not bad. Pretty good recovery. I'd say you're middle of the pack now with a little room to expand and a couple of options. It's not the best but its not the worst.

Cheers. That's pretty much where my head's at too. I'm trying to be pleased with the recovery rather than sad at the mistakes.
We were saved by a combination of IMP being nuts, and the two early granaries. The combination allowed us to absolutely shit out settlers from The Rack and Anise after our earlier failure. We settled our 4th city T65, and our eighth T76.
In theory, the Oracle will help us keep pace with others and their luxuries. Now we see if Tarkeel and I can keep the recovery going...

Over-whipping? Nah, never heard of it.
(Also, LOL at Noble's food stat. Notice our score is 4th, and he's almost double. )
Edit: For some actual news, Cairo razed a city of Civac's this turn. I'd swap Mjmd and Civac in my prior rankings with that knowledge. The gap between Noble and Mjmd is enormous though.

Who needs food anyway

On the bright side, when we finally stop whipping our civ into the ground on settlers/workers/missionaries, I think we'll be in a decent place Food+GNP wise. Production will always be bad, so thankfully we have OR whips to help with that. I'm getting a bit worried about the military situation though...

Actually, look at the line below for happiness: Not enough whipping! (that's actually Hereditary Rule though)

I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned it, but if Ruff could stop playing last Every. Single. Turn. That would be great. He isn’t even at war. He’s probably held the game up by something like 15 turns at this point, and it’s incredibly frustrating. Probably the first time I’ve been annoyed enough to not play a game with someone in the future.
Could a lurker talk to him about this?? I would PM him, but I don’t know if that crosses the line for ‘no diplomacy.’

Its kinda the "norm" for Ruff lately. Trust me, ive tried to bring it up. Other lurkers seem to not care nearly as much..
