I think pb38 was just about right without the astroland(if this is the pitbos were werelik 2000 tiles of astroland). PB 56 is an atrocity and i wouldnt call that civ.

PB54 was actually slightly smaller tiles / player than PB56 and even though I got warrior rushed in PB54 there was still room for a city for both SD and myself between us and I don't think anyone else had problems with competing 2nd cities. I can't really say too much about PB56, but I've noted those map issues in my thread that probably caused your issue.

Are you counting the city ruins as a city?
Map makers can prevent this problem of early clash with terrain. Add in a lake or peaks or desert or jungle. Generally just don't make both players want to expand directly towards each other right away.

going to play this one ?
I am playing some games on other site. What I like there is we we play anonymus. Well after some games people figure out that they need to play against me, but for a while was nice.
But I do want to join this one, but if the map is too small i will pas as iwant to play civ not some strcraft variant of civ4.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."
-Old Harry. PB48.
the map should be large enough that people are safe from getting immediately warrior rushed if they're just scouting a bit around their capital.
"I know that Kilpatrick is a hell of a damned fool, but I want just that sort of man to command my cavalry on this expedition."
