New EitB PBEM

can you set up a generic PBEM with a random map and upload that save? Maybe there's some setting in the scenario that is causing conflicts? Still would not explain how Cairo could open it....

Here are two saves from a random game. "Test turn 0" I saved while in the turn as the first player. The second (Random_test_turn...) is the save the game made to be sent to the second player. Edit: I set the password to the letter "a".

Well, if my versions don't work for you all but Mig's versions work for me, perhaps Miguelito's version of the map would also load. (Players would have to be ok with me sending him the WB save to start as a PBEM.)

other players please also check that the sav eI uploaded works for you, if we want to go ahead with this.

Maybe there still is a smarter solution. This is so very weird. Who set up the last few PBEMs?

Just to spice things up, both Miguelito's save file and naufragar's save files opened for me (although the turn 0 one was password protected).

I've generated a pbem and attached the save, I'd be curious who can open it and who cannot. Although annoying, this is kinda fascinating.

Worked for me, unsurprisingly. Edited earlier post with the game password (not that it matters).

I originally edited this into my previous post, but I figured it deserved a new post:

Something interesting came up as I was trying out different things. When I first tried those saves, and when I generated the save attached to this post, I was using the normal version of the game on Steam, since that's what got nauf's save to work for me in the first place.

Then I went back to "original_release_unsupported" and tried to open the saves. I could open Miguelito's save, and my own save, but not nauf's save, with that version of Civ4 on Steam.

That tells me the issue probably isn't with the version of the mod, but possibly with the version of Civ 4 people are using?
