Apologies to Rusten for making the theme about my nerdy personal hobby. I've been a capoeira practitioner for the better part of my life now, on and off, lately rather off for obvious reasons (+ family). So I'm hoping to revive the vibes this way a bit.
For starters:
This is actually an absolute gem if you can appreciate it, but should also be successful in scaring away any intruders

For a bit of civ content, at least:
- traits I'm interested in: Org, Chm, Ind, Cre, Fin
- would pick if in a nice pairing with one of the above: Phi, Imp, Pro, Spi
- rather uninterested: Exp, Agg
Dream civ: Vikings
But we get a random pool, so we'll have to be creative with finding a synergy.

I have similar feelings. Not played Fin or Org since I came back to PB, so this seems a good time to use at least one of them. Haven't played Ind or Cre either, but they are not as great in this setup (still don't mind picking one with the right setup). For me Phi is in the interesting category too as I've not played that in RtR or CtH, and I already used to play (and enjoy) the weaker vanilla version.
Civilization is way harder to plan around so not going to say too much there until we get picks unless prompted.
Capoeira is cool, I don't mind that theme.

There are several civ reworks I'd be interested to try, but America stands out to me as playable (finally).
A musket that can get G3 is not bad, and the harbor is very interesting. The 3 base GPP has some extra benefits beyond the output. I believe it won't count towards any specific GP, which means that it's easier to produce a "rare" great person that's limited by slots and wonders (engineers, prophets). Very fun, and could even see people throwing this one back into the pool for round 2.

Yes, the america UB is pretty unique, that's nice, although it's still a harbour, and you are likely to not even get EXP. Germany is another case of a formerly null civ which is pretty interesting for this game. civac has proposed a PHI powered chemistry beeline. I also really like the early factory, imagine getting that with ORG...
Overall the mid/late game civs are pretty appealing options here, between the expected long game duration and the somewhat spacier map than what we've played recently. Still need to get a leg up early for late uniques to be actually beneficial.
But really, if we get a civ that we feel somewhat good about we should probably take it, the chance of ending up with a bad fit is pretty high.

Your first Civ choice: Babylon
Your first leader choices: Pacal, Justinian
Starting screenshots will be posted in a couple days. You may wait to finalize a choice until then. You may reject or accept any of these choices. You will have a max of 2 more choices of civ and a max of 4 more leaders.

Many thanks Lewwyn
Looks like we're married to Justin at this point . Pacal should also be considered.
Not stoked about Babylon, but I think they got something new in this version? Gotta check.

I know, when I saw it roll I laughed out loud.
