There were two thoughts underlying my statement there:
a) It takes a while for a non-Ind civ to gather the 200h necessary to build the GLH. There's a good chance a pop point working a mine would pay back more than 30h in that time frame, and our capitals have the hills to spare. 58 spoilers:
b) I was already ~50h into GLH when I made that statement. If he was only just starting GLH at the time he'd be unlikely to win the race.
It's certainly possible that he's still going for it in his capital, but I think that makes it less likely.

I completely agree with your reasoning for this case, my comment was more in the general case of whipping overflow into a wonder. You rarely get much more than a turn or two of savings out of it.

Oh , you can get more , but is not usualy the case with early wonders.

I think I'm going to go for it. It seems like I have a decent chance, and it's pretty amazing if I do win it. My micro will be messed up if I get beaten, but it won't be the end of the world. The risk vs reward sounds good.
Plot twist though, Pindicator just manually researched Metal Casing too. Again, I don't see why else he'd do that besides the Colossus, but I also don't see why you'd try to beat the IND civ to it without the benefit of the early tech from the Oracle.

I spent ages figuring out how to scrounge together the last few hammers for my Colossus plan. Then I played it out in my sim and I had a bunch of overflow? Turns out Charriu changed the Forge overflow mechanics so it doesn't round down anymore. All that effort wasted ...
Too tired to go back through it again right now, so I'm working a forest over a cottage this turn that may not be necessary.

Actually, I'm wrong it hasn't changed.
The number still didn't add up, so I realised it was the Ind bonus reducing the effect. Usually any overflow gets divided by 1.25 due to the Forge. But as an Ind, 1h extra into a Forge becomes 2h overflow, which then gets divided by 2.25. So essentially I get 0.89h instead of 0.8h next turn, for every 1h overflow.

Was very worried about this one, so feeling pretty good about the game now. I aimed to build it when it is economically viable, rather than the fastest possible build time, so it was possible to be beaten to it. It's also a terrible wonder to lose because you don't get failgold on your Lighthouse. It's still not crazy with no 2nd island in sight yet, but almost any wonder is great when you are Phi/Ind.
I finally figured out what Cornflakes did with the Oracle too:
If he's building a Watermill, then he manually teched Metal Casting and Oracled Machinery! Really nice move, I guess it was much harder to pull off before MC's price reduction. Watermill's are good, but they do take twice as many worker turns as cottages, which is still a factor at this stage of the game. I guess he'll be happy to mill the river and get Fin cottages going on the other tiles though. The other thing to worry about is Crossbows. For naval attacks, Bowman will still get odds, so that's ok. I'll have to think about the benefits of an earlier HBR for land invasions though. At least they don't get his Aggressive bonus.
We'll have to see what this means for his Colossus ETA. Chopping out wonders can be hard to do when you need to put 10t into watermills. I'm locked in to my T55 build anyway, don't see how I can get it any earlier.
I doubt I'm going to finish my player profiles btw. So here's the pre-game ranking I had: OH, Gav, Corn, Pin.
Right now, based on the game state it looks like Corn, OH, Pin, Gav, but OH and co. is still the team that scare me most. I got graphs for everyone except Pin:

Also, I'll try to keep tabs on how well my traits are doing. Ind has gotten me:
T30 - 40h (Henge)
T48 - 66h (GLH)
I think I'll try keep track of my granary dates for a comparison with Exp/Pro as well. Every time a granary is completed that's 30h from the trait. There's two caveats to this, first I would have completed the granaries slightly earlier with Pro rather than simply the Babylon garden. Second, granaries are possibly the most snowbally building around, and 30h into it is probably worth more than a generic 30h. Still it should be an interesting comparison.
Granary dates:
T11, T16, T22, T34, T35, T38.
There was a global anarchy turn on T31 I think from the switch to sequential.
IND has also been getting me 5gpt for a while now from the civic maintenance, but I'll let Charriu's tools keep track of the money stuff. Right now Agg would be making ~9gpt on city maintenance savings and Fin would be making 7gpt from tiles.
