I would have put #1 for the same reason.

Sorry to hear about your father ichabod, it’s scary. I hope he pulls through with minimal impact.

Thanks, Lewwyn.
Man, this hit me really hard. I think all this stress from life in this past year just blew up on me. I'm feeling tired, barely able to work. Just trying to take little steps and get better.

Yeah, I know that place. I was there in January. I feel you. And it's okay to not be okay. One of the things that helped me was people and support here, just knowing people cared. So know you're not alone.

Thanks again, Lewwyn. And thanks for the map.
Regarding the game, we are off. I settled on the sugar, opened with a worker and agriculture. I'll take a look at Serdoa's spreadsheet to get some opening tips, but I'm not yet sure if I'll do more simming. Perhaps we'll have to play by feel, as usual.
We need a naming scheme.
My scout movement is not optimal, I guess, but I didn't want to miss seafood to the south. The sea is not very wide, and there's land to the south that appears to be bigger than a mere island. We have very good land around us, with a pig to the north and a great wheat + pig city to the west. I can't really see a second city not going into a spot that gets both resources in the first ring (two 6-resource tiles), so we have to choose to settle on the river or on the coast.
Our traits will drag us down considering this incredibly good land. I suppose we have to really focus on getting expansion going and not get distracted by anything else.
Off we go!

German players that scored in the 7-1, since we are playing Germany. I wonder if we’ll need more than that.
But I liked your suggestion. Simple, but effective.
