Turn 106
I have a notification that I can call the World Congress. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t list Hattusa as one of the taken city-states.
Away from the interesting bits the horse moves east, the sword at Hearts and Bones moves west, Confucius moves south, galley moves west. Under African Skies has completed its walls, resumes its monument build and now has four population. I consider starting the Campus but that’s a 28 turn build right now. However, given where I am culturally (middle of the pack with China crushing all of the inspirations for me) shifting to the Campus is the right move. The city has expanded to the salt and is working that tile. Graceland appears to have decided that it’s taking the salt in a couple of turns as the picker has been pointing there the last three turns. That would be good since I could mine the tile and move off the iron to help city growth.
Let’s see...three more turns and Australia’s production freakout will end. Can hardly wait to see how many shipwrecks spawn on this part of the map (“You’ve unearthed a Medieval Era Australian thingy”). So, how many galleys are they up to now?
(forgot to take this while playing the turn so reloaded the start of turn save for the shot)
For now, at least six (there’s one off screen to the east that attacked my galley last turn). One of my promotable jongs can’t get out of the way...yet. Two shots later and it scoots off to the northwest to promote. I drop one galley to 6 damage remaining and sink another. The jong bringing up the rear moves up and can hit the Russian galley for 73 damage. We’ll see how many I can sink next turn. The expected damage of a Line of Battle escort jong against an Oligarchy galley is 112 with a damage spread of 90 to 135. I currently have four such promoted jong available with the others at 3, 7 and 9 XP.
The injured galley has a problem in that the Aussie galley gets +4 from Oligarchic Legacy. I move west as planned, revealing Illmatic.
I finish my movement on the pearls in the bay. I expect to have some company down here in the form of another galley. The city likely has the production to get them out at 1/turn right now. However, base city garrison strength remains 20.
I’ve been back and forth about the objective here. First it was conquer Australia, then it became wound Australia and wound Russia. However, I think “kill” Australia is the better idea. Yes, Russia can snowball from here...however, how well can a single civ snowball in a team game when the teammate is near-fatally crippled or eliminated? What’s the difference between “conquer” and “kill”? I no longer intend on keeping anything but the capital. Razing as much as possible out leaves Australia in a very weak position.
Only noteworthy gossip is England adopting Monarchy. Woden’s empire score indicates he’s got a settler out.
Roland, in relation to your question in your last post my next builder would cost 205
or 100
. I’m going to build one at OC after the library completes.
