I chop at Steve Davis (scorer of a fantastic overhead kick last sunday against Celtc) and get my first boat and some part of walls. Will buy a settler here next turn for starfish island and more Great Wall fun.

I don't suppose there is a perfect plan. Well of course there is but we have know way of knowing it.

we need to do as much damage as possible as quickly as possible. While it would be nice to head into Russian territory that could bog us down.

really like the fact you have taken out 10 galleys in 2 turns.

If we consider that each of them are doing.

Australia is clearly just building galleys galore as it should be.

We have to assume Russia is also building quads as well as galleys.

so do we go hunting those by going for Russia heading away from the Galleys or do we go into the storm and smash up Australia.

In terms of holding cities we probably don't want to hold any of the Australian ones on the whole and have no chance of holding the russian ones. So taking the australian capital and then raising those around it makes sense. We will lose that city eventually i expect but we can cause all sorts of trouble in the mean time.

it's something of a toss up. better to kill russia right now though australia will be stronger long term. path of least resistance and more damage is australia hopefully. they further you head from those soon to be russian frigates the longer we are doing damage.

i think it's 60/40 in favour of going after Australia. Take the capital use it to pump out ships or units. chop everything if you can. then raise anything else perhaps unless it has niter.

The big danger with holding cities is that if Australia liberates one then we're in for another 10 turns of +100% production. The other consideration, which I've alluded to before, is that many of Australia's city placements require Aqueducts in order to be longer-term productive since they don't need rivers. I'll raze the two western Australian cities, take the capital, buy walls and leave a jong behind as fortification while the rest of the fleet taks out Australia city-by-city. That'll also put me on the south coast where I can possibly liberate Yerevan and start working on the southern Russian coast.

One thing we don't yet know is how many Russian cities are coastal, which could be a limiting factor on how fast CMF can crank out a navy.

I think I've sunk somewhere north of 15 galleys over the past 4-5 turns.

Turn 110

Library at Al is complete, start a builder. Over on Big Island the builder puts in a sheep pasture and I move the iron-working citizen to the sheep. More for the city and it’ll grow in five turns. Next turn I’ll put in the horse pasture for another boost to and . Confucius was spotted since he’s back in Mother and Child Reunion. He heads to the coast and embarks. I’ll use him to go find the ship(s) that sent him home.

What is interesting in this screenshot is not the fact that there are fewer galleys to deal with this turn. It’s the fact that he lost about 120 milpower in galleys last turn and his milpower now is actually 30 higher than last turn. He’s netted five galleys’ worth of milpower production in the past turn. It’s likely galleys as well since none of his city defenses have gone up.

What I would like to do is take and raze the city, upgrade a chariot and sink some of the ships to the south. The southern jong/chariot formation moves next to the city and the units unlink, as does the sword/jong pair. Second jong/chariot pair also moves southeast but remain linked. That reveals two more Russian galleys to the south. That’s a complication. All three unpromoted jong have the option to promote. I promote the northernmost one now. The others will need to wait. Two jong attack the city, zeroing its defenses. Swordsman takes the city and I get the eureka for Mass Production. Chariot upgrades to a knight and then I raze the city. Knight escort shoots but doesn’t sink the Aussie galley, unpromoted jong finishes that one off. Move up and




Well, that’s a bit of a blockade. Instead of trying to kill one galley I decide to shoot the Embolon galley once (for 80 damage) then shoot the front line galley with the remaining jong, which does 96 damage. Next turn I should be able to clear out the galleys through a combination of escort swapping (oooh, you’re a dirty boy!) and moving up as units get killed. It’ll take the full fleet to break the blockade next turn but I want to raze that southern city as fast as possible then turn around towards the Aussie capital. Bringing land units ashore here to carry out attacks is not appealing. The forces are better moving with the jongs for speed and attacking cities from the sea.

Only diplomatic news is that England is trading with Japan.

Turn 111

Meant to post this yesterday i placed my first discounted district.



1st charge into the mausoleum



1st charge into the hanging gardens. Now this is strictly speaking not required but it will give me 2 of each in the city from my religion so probably worth while



start producing quads at the capital want to get 8-10 out before square rigging is in. We will see how that goes.



Chop out the EC here. don't get any overflow from this chop or last one for some reason. But did seem to a helander.

CMF is obviously saving gold for frigates. one of the issues we will have is he will know where your Jongs are and we won't see him coming.

We will know when he gets them so perhaps we need to go dark at that point. pull back out of sight. May be worth keeping your GP around the jongs for a bit of scouting or early warning.
