The upgrade formula that I have is double the production difference + 10, rounded to the nearest 10. Quads -> frigates are 330, 165 with Professional Army. Weirdly it's cheaper (by 20:gold) to upgrade a frigate to a battleship.

As suspected the ones I have a DoF/Alliance with can’t vote. The upshot is that I can move Liang to Big Island since Demak Sultanate gets +20 loyalty. Additionally only CMF and Australia stand to benefit from it. First thing to check this turn is Russia’s niter count. It was 26 last turn and it’s 30 this turn, so he’s netting four per turn. OK, Australia later, elsewhere first.

Lumbermill goes in at Al, the new citizen will use that in four turns. Archers are relocating. With those on the way I start to swap positions with the slinger (Fifty Ways) and swordsman (Skies) so the latter can go clear Midway’s barbarian camp. On Big Island Proof has grown and it locks the Commercial Hub. Builder at Mother & Child repairs the horse pasture. That builder, I think, is going to go plantation a coffee. I’m starting to build up war weariness and while Demak Sultanate is sinking most of it both Al and Mother & Child are feeling it. Confucius reaches Hearts & Bones. Jong in the area sees nothing and retreats to home territory for now.

At Demak Sultanate the city’s taken a bit of damage, I’m assuming that’s courtesy of an Aussie crossbowman that showed up last turn. The monument is complete, Liang jumps to Under African Skies – once she establishesd I’ll buy a builder there. The city shoots the crossbowman for 76 damage and starts a scout. Nope...I can’t build scouts because I’ve unlocked skirmishers which will take 21 turns to build. I start my own crossbowman.

Up at Marshall Mathers I bring a rear jong forward and find another ship pile:




This will go a little faster because the quadriremes have a defensive value of 20. Closest ship to my unit doesn’t die on the first shot but the second one kills it. Sink the galley next to the city. The remaining jong up here can’t move to the city’s location so the swordsman disemmbarks. Trailing jong catches up and shoots the city and the sword’s former escort zeroes the garrison. To the south the knight moves to the Holy Site – the city’s defense is now 34, which will prevent the knight from taking it solo. I pillage the Holy Site for 97 and will hit the Campus next turn. I might go take out Aquemini first – that’d let the fleet speed towards Flower Boy and let the knight heal up to return to Fantasy. However, if Fantasy is empty maybe I’ll try to take the city. The pillage lets me buy Medieval Walls in Demak Sultanate. That’ll slow down the frigates and nullify any battering rams that show up, plus give me a little more city defense.

Does Indonesia signing open borders with England/Japan a possibility?   Not picking them over Norway/Phoenicia as better alliance partners, but the Indonesian fleet might need the egress.

Next turn i complete Mausoleum and hanging gardens. Unfortunately Fil isn't converted to my religion yet but i will get 4 free tiles 2 are good stuff.




Sub i need this tile ideally for terracotta how does Al's expansion look?

Need a couple of builders next one for colleseum which will have a huge impact on my civ and one for getting the tiles nice and improved up in the NW.

This Guy will buy me a frigate upgrade in 7 turns.

Sub do i wan't to be sending 5 or 6 Quads down to big island with a view to upgrading there and going after russia or am i looking to be defending here?

Going backwards, Big Island doesn't have much in the way of water territory claimed except at Hearts & Bones. If/when you're upgrade-ready you could either upgrade there (if Russia doesn't attack the city) or in the channel between Ryan Kent and Al.

As for Al's expansion you'll likely take the tile before Al. The city is working on third ring tiles now but I believe the eastern wheat is up first because it's a resource.

Japan's borders are the ones that would need to be opened. Kaiser's borders have closed off the strait east of Have a Good Time (which is going to close off its own strait when it claims its next tile). I don't know that I'd want to do that only because they'd scout out Big Island which is more valuable information to them than us wandering around their territory.

I'd have better egress possibilities once I complete Cartography, which I've got the boost for. Completing Square Rigging is the pain in the ass because it's well before muskets are available. I've got 9 turns to go on that, maybe 7 if I can pillage the Campus next turn. I will be able to speed jong production in three turns when Exploration completes.

you will get square rigging in 6 or 7 turns anyway when i complete it.

Indeed might be worth you putting some research in something else once you have 60% done.
