[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

Swapped some tiles around as I saw we weren't working a flood plains. Paranaue grows 1t earlier and rest should be unchanged. Leaving the plains cottage idle for a turn.
You'll probably want to cottage that riverside hill by our gold city early if that's the improvement plan as the city can reach 12 base hammers that way. Efficient rounding for the forge, it's nearly a 2-hammer tile with the rounding in mind.

WARNING: Be careful with Elkad's chariot. He can declare war and raze our horse city after the chariot is bumped to neutral land. I don't like leaving that empty. He can do the same to Camun, so I think you should move that spearman into the city.

Edit: I didn't check to see if we have enforced peace. If we do then ignore the above.

Ugh, didn't think of that. We don't have enforced peace. Did I forget to move the axe/spear back from the jungle tile? When I played Elkad hadn't moved yet. Dann, that OB can prove a very bad decision, if he now goes mapping out our land and we need spears everywhere. Doh what do we do about it? Throw him out? I was just hoping to build some trust frown

I was going to cottage the hill, yes. Will prioritize it for the forge rounding.

You can log in and move them now. We're not at war or planning to declare.

The spear can reach the horse city start of next turn then which makes us safe for now.

If you are able to move them that would be great, I'm not sure I'll get to it before the turn roll.

Done, and he's moving one of his axes west towards Hastings so I don't think he's planning anything. Still, we can't leave that city completely empty so put the spear in.

Civac offered open borders, you can reoffer if you want it. I just closed the window.

Do you see a benefit in accepting? Building relations? It's free commerce for him, and I don't know why we'd want that.

I'd decline, and make it a priority to scout in his direction.

He has his workboat in range. He doesn't know yet, but he does not need OB to scout everything. Will scout towards him yes. If my assumption of 5x5 player continents with an inner sea is correct he should be W/NW of Elkad. I want our scout in the SW to map out as much of Spain as possible for the future attack, then turn N where I suspect AT is.

Fwiw thanks for taking the time to look into the tile micro. The FP was a case of prioritizing cottage growth over food hammers, which is of course a trap.

If you log in again, you'll see I moved a worker to a riverside forest for a farmchop. I realized later that I don't really have anything I want to do with the chop, besides randomly putting it into the forge. Just going for a farm on a bare tile would have been better I guess. Would you still chop it because we're there already, or just eat the lost turn and move to another tile?

This turn we're one turning Writing (with 47b from overflow in it already). I'm planning to start forges libraries in Corta Cana, Bonfim and Camunjerê. Should we prioritize the former two, ie do you think they are worth a whip? In that case it would make sense to wait with further research until they're finished. But probably that's  a wrong priorization of commerce over expansion.
The research with two prereqs also gives us our first demo first place:

The important stats are still "not great, but not terrible either". I like how behind we are on land area despite 11 cities, courtesy of no border pops outside the cap (btw, we've got no Hindu spread yet from Charriu frown ). The population stat is also interesting. It means our cities are smaller than average, on average. I want to read that as us using the whip efficiently smile .

Abroad tensions are rising. Charriu declared on Lazteuq (who remember razed a core city of his before). Meanwhile Mjmd is building up power. If he manages to catch Charriu spent after fighting Lazteuq that could be a very early conquest. Otoh I'd expect him to at least go for horse archers, and F6 doesn't show anybody with HBR.
In general there appear to be a couple of turn splits, but not among our contacts. civac might be in one, but I think he also likes to consult a lot with his dedlurker.

I think the chariot situation with Elkad is under control. The one place where it could get really complicated is him forking Paranauê/Viola. Else he could get a chance at sniping one of the new plants, but I doubt he's the guy to do that. His units on the border are also retreating, so I'm hopeful for stable relations.

I presume you mean libraries and not forges. I wouldn't delay research as we need the next techs ASAP (maths+currency). Not worth whipping the libraries over working good tiles (river cottages). Overall we should just grow to our happy cap. After currency we're getting HR I presume. Maybe even timing it with a caste (CoL) civic swap as we don't have religion, or trigger a golden age. Probably a golden age is worthwhile, hence even more priority towards growing cities as big as possible before then.

But the library in Camun is important, I'd whip that. Every turn we're not working the pig we're losing ~6 hammers (which is why I don't love saving the forests, but I've yielded on this point by now).

If we don't have religion spread by the time we trigger a golden age we should rush out a scientist and bulb philosophy. We may want to do it anyway as nationalism is a priority this game and having our own religion is better, plus we can use pacifism. With our late religion spread it makes more sense (short term) to prioritize spreading it to the few GPP cities and run pacifism than using it for OR. We'll want units and not infrastructure soon enough.
