[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

(May 20th, 2021, 22:28)Rusten Wrote: Overall game is going very well. We have the #1 economy in the game (if not already then at least the potential for it), and the demos are looking better and better too. Add in Elkad seemingly being peaceful (for now) and Donovan being so far behind and I don't think I'd trade places with anyone. Colossus is so big (with fin).

Keep it up guys. thumbsup

Assigned plains hill to Corta Cana to speed up the library (still grows to happy cap eot). You can change it if you disagree. If we complete a library there and in Bonfim then our 2 best commerce cities will get the multiplier for quicker currency. Gather gold for a few turns until then.
Also assigned the Bonfim cow to the coastal city as Bonfim is building a settler, you can change this too if you wish. I didn't calculate whether this slows down the library (but I think it completes ahead of or at the same time as Corta Cana either way).

The afrementioned demos, seeing as Miguelito hasn't posted them recently:

To be fair we're about to whip 3 settlers, but on the whole things are looking good. Still got space to grow (multiple cities) and we've made some sacrifices as well (forges, Colossus).

Yes, I had missed the cow, good find. Also agree that the cap is due to work some mines. It can use a bit of a pause from whipping.

The fresh maths chop for Paranauê or Viola (into forge, either way)? I'd argue Paraná, because it wants the spec slot (or not - we want a pure GS after all?) and the library, and should whip less.

Pyramids and Hanging Gardens got build. The former leaves me at ease to burn an engineer on the GA. I had still been entertaining the thought of stealing that in just 7 turns. I also don't have to feel bad about delaying the GP by a turn or 2 due to not always working the engineer. Hanging Gardens I had initially identified as our most probable wonder (due to Exp), but of course Colossus is much better.

AT lost another city frown
Also Mjmd's city count went down from 12 to 11. He's built up a lot of power, but I think it's just ancient units. At least nobody we know has HBR. We can't tell construction, but that would be surprising. It's good that he is distracted, makes him less likely to do something about us grabbing the jungle island.
Finally Dono has a new city. Next turn with one of the settlers I need to check if our somewhat forward border spot is still possible.

You didn't select a build for Mare, probably just setting it to library.
Paranaue chop sounds right.
At least it looks like civac had to raze some of the cities, based off of diplo screen. Hopefully AT can hold his core.

I logged in and upon further inspection I think we should just 3-pop whip the forge in Paranaue when it becomes unhappy. We can put the chop into the southern city instead and let it complete the forge without a whip. In hindsight these worker turns would've been better off mining the two riverside hills, but at least the farm will be useful. I think we should prioritize these 2 tiles next, 1 worker on each hill if we can spare it (I count the one currently chopping+farming as one of them), because the city will grow very quickly.
Give gems to Paranaue when you whip the settler in Bonfim.

If we are desperate for worker turns I'm fine with 2-pop whipping a worker in capital before library and running scientists to control happiness, but overall I think it's better to grow. Basing our tile usage on coast means less improvements needed.
1 civ has currency already for KTB and it's Donovan.

Went with your suggestion for the whip in Paraná. Yes I do regret moving the worker there, it was a bit of kneejerk, but whatever. I fear we can only spare one for mining right now. We have 5 on or on their way to the various islands, and the Dono border plant will also require the attention of two of them (that city will be very very awful until Calendar, but I want to build a mine there, in order to at least get the granary going.
We could whip a worker in Maré though; it will grow back in no time. Also in Canoa, although probably a settler will be the right call.
I do want to spare the cap from the whip for a while, as it's really hitting on the HC, and it has many good tiles (and multiplier). I would whip a market though, which would make for +1 net happy.

Donovan has had some pretty high GNP despite (or because of?) his low city count. 1.2% KTB could just result in a beaker or 2 at 100% smile

I think Maré is the city where we want to get our first GS during the golden age, so I don't really want to whip it. Would rather whip the western fish a 2nd time. The bigger size Mare is the better, especially because Para is a little reduced already from whipping so much. Mare can run as many scientists as we have happiness for. I see it as our philo bulb city.

Ok but how far is the GA away, anyways? Currency is 8 turns at the current rate, and then we want, before getting started, at least CoL, Myst, Med, Priesthood, Monarchy (and frankly I hate delaying Calendar for so long). Of course our rate will still improve significantly, especially with Currency, but that sounds like 15-20 turns. (or am I wrong? I've said, and demonstrated, before that I'm bad at predicting tech speed)
Maré needs to work only 5 scientists to get the GS in 7 turns of GA, and it sounds pretty easy to me to grow 2-> 7 in >10 turns.

We don't need monarchy to start the GA, we just need it by the end of it.
If you think we need the worker I'm OK with it.

Right, but we also need to get till Feudalism during the GA. Again, I'm bad at predicting tech progress, particularly if I have to factor in the increased GA commerce. What would you expect for when we should launch the GA?

Also we have to clear Alphabet for the Philo bulb, but I assume it isn't worth to delay Currency for the prereq bonus. Every turn of Currency will give us ~45 commerce. The arrow bonus is 144 turns, so we would need to research Alpha in 3.5 turns or so, at the breakeven rate, to make it worthwhile.
Maybe that is the motivation for Elkad researching Alphabet, he wants the religion? If so, there is little we can do about it noidea. But we could be hopeful for spreads smile

At the cap, after the library a garrison unit for the coppercorn island, a trireme, or a barracks? (Or...? we could also slowbuild a worker I suppose)
