[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

We can get the settler done in 5 turns and then grow in 2 which coincides with whip anger going away. I think it works out quite well so I made the change. Next turn give away fish tile and switch to wheat. Both Marinheiro and the island city will have enough food to grow eot I believe.

I did indeed give the grassland mine to Canoa and let the other city work 1F-coast for a turn.

Will also take this opportunity to say that I may be hard to reach until next tuesday. Not sure how much time I'll have yet.

Quote:With settling stone, do we fit in Masonry? (after Currency, sure enough, and likely Calendar) Marinheiro could then start on Moai.

I think perhaps we triple chop the Moai, because then we can complete it in time for the GA. Better to let the chop go towards that than the island library.

BTW, I think Mjmd was down to 10 cities now.

I like your assignment for CC, but after some back and forth I think it should be a worker. I'll log in and change it. The settler would be for junglehorse, and that requires some preparation yet. Yes we are running out of dots. I also screwed up already, and the copper city will only get a late granary chop Doh , some help there will be welcome.

Mjmd at 10 cities was I think 2 turns ago already, maybe 3.

I take that as a yes on masonry? I was considering lumbermills for the two flat forests, but with Moai I guess that's irrelevant.

Good luck with your projects during this week then, hope you'll not be too shocked by what you find coming back mischief

Worker sounds good.
Yes to masonry. It's cheap and has double arrow. After calendar (and myst) I think.

Was thinking about the island city with trireme and library in queue. I'm against whipping it as long as it has available coast -- that's so much base commerce gone. What I'd recommend is putting library on 30/90 hammers and then slow-build the trireme, We're getting 3 hammers per turn there so we should have time before the trireme decays.
Then we can elect to either 2-pop whip the library at a later time if that seems best, or 1-pop the trireme with overflow (if that's enough to complete the library with a chop).

Donovan offers open borders. Send back for peaceful relations? Can also scout his cities with the chariot for better intel later.

If we reoffer he will relax, but will see our attack coming. If not he'll be suspicious and may build up power - which can be good or bad, as at least it'll slow down his research, which is the one area where he's doing well. Either way he's not a threat, imo.

Between what our scout has seen and Charriu's coast I believe we know most of his layout already. Also we'll easily fill our routes with currency as well, while he may have more trouble with that?

My tendency is no, but if you still believe that it's beneficial overall we can do it.

Btw you didn't respond to yesterday's silly idea of mine. We are not going to try and settle the northern half of Dono's blob, are we? He's been busy settling islands or backfill it appears, as his last three cities were not in that direction.

Our attack is a while away, I think we're fine to give him OB, but you can decide.

I would've liked settling northern DZ if not for civac seemingly rolling over AT*. I just worry that he'll turn our way afterwards if we give him a reason to. I think we should rather focus on being fast to guilds, we already have 15+ cities soon. Settling over there could even start a 1v3 (dogpiles).

*Surprised AT is being stomped like this against 1-movers without siege. frown Perhaps I'll have to take back my statement on not wanting to trade position with anyone. My hope is that our speed towards knights will conquer DZ without ease, but this will certainly make taking out the whole continent much harder.

This turn we are witnesses to that stomp:

AT has 4 axes and 2 chariots in the city, plus the trailing axe. Little fortify bonus. Vultures famously lose against axemen, but Agg of course changes that equation a bit.
With the walls it will not be cheap, but with the promos on his units I think civac can keep this city. (I have no doubt he'll sim the combat extensively)

civac also has Currency as of this turn, so it's not like he's sacrificing his economy to achieve the conquest. He should be behind a bit with settling his own backlines, but he'll have a lot of space sure enough. Easily a 30 city empire, which does sound scary. Als his Ziggurats will help him manage the costs. Should we be concerned that he might just push ahead on Donovan, with catapults then?

In other news of falling empires, Mjmd is down to 9 cities. His trade screen didn't show copper so I offered him some, plus OB. Get a scout over there?

Meanwhile we complete our peaceful expansion by settling Sou Jogador in the far northeast, and Onça Morreu in the southwest on Donovan's border, an all jungle city before popping borders.

Left to fill are the stone city 3E of Camunjeré, a cottage helper with copper and shared wetcorn 3E of Viola, the jungle horse city and eventually a wine city on that tiny island SW of Canoa Virou.

I later changed builds in Camunjeré and Lavandeira to archers. I think they're quite useful on the islands, and a number of cities are still without MPs. Also we're going to run HR for a long time (although Pacifism as well).

The demos are not quite yet where I'd hope they'd be, Rusten may be correct that I should stop whipping coast. But CY is moving in the right direction, as is MfG, although that's with the help of now 5 forges already which I doubt many others have. I have to wonder how 250 GNP works, even if that's a double arrow it's impressive.

Btw with our recently increased spamming efforts, and looking at this:

You may get the impression that we're winning the post wars, but over on civforum civac's thread has over a 1000 replies already, with over 500 from civac alone, and 27k views. Goes to show their commitment. The other two threads on civforum also surpass our numbers. In part that might be because their community is not all playing in the big game. I do trust civac to take care that global lurkers adhere to our forum rules of not interfering in the game.

Oh and a question: If we get a GM, and Confucianism is still up for grabs, would we conisder bulbing it? The next GP would then be 18+ turns away, rushing in Corta Cana with 1 engineer and 2 scientists. Seems late.
