[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

No mood/time for a proper report, just bullet points:
  • petition to whip the library in Leva ao Céu (iron island). Next turn we can do it for 1 pop, if that reduces your pain. It can't work its many coast tiles because it needs a border pop. Fwiw the city can go a little longer without MP thanks to Calendar resources.
  • jungle misery (Onça Morreu): Work the mine until the granary finishes, or bananas asap? Would delay the plantation by a turn in that case, freeing a worker up a turn earlier.
  • We caught a spy of Elkad's in Lavandeira. But why? we have OB. Elkad isn't building up power, so Iiam
  • We could do Mysticism and Masonry in 2 turns, but would not have the workers in position for the quarry, so I set the slider to 0, next turn we can go 100%
  • I'm not too happy with the city micro, have a go if you feel like it.
  • Develop the stone filler (Dinheiro) as a hammer/whip city, without a lighthouse for now? It doesn't have too many coast tiles anyway.
  • Calendar confirmed a narrow band of 5 continents stretching E-W, with a toroidal wrap.
  • civac does have an island in the middle of our continent which likely has the only incense. Where is silver?+
  • Donovan has a Confu spread in a new city. Did he found it after all? It would be surprising but conceivable. Should take a look at the culture graph.
  • With new happy we can grow freely everywhere, but are really short on tiles. Do you still think we can do without new workers?
  • I have not found a build queue for a warrior, which feels wrong.
  • Mjmd is moving a galley W of the horse island. Are we being reckless?

Seeing the map centred with calendar reminds me of how happy I am to only be riding shotgun for this game. wink

Seems like it might be time to whip furs island. Next turn capital can take grass mine with the new pop and Marinheiro can take one of Mora's whipped coastal tiles.

Just complete the granary first with the mine.

We're whipping 2 libraries next turn so finish mysticism with as low a slider as possible, and then go 100% after.

Probably the best play as the upcoming war is the most important.

I think there's no point getting new workers right now. By the time they finish we'll have caught up with most improvements. Bite the bullet of working some non-ideal tilel temporarily and save the hammers for other things.

I'm not sure yet. It feels like there are 5 mini games running in parallel for the while being, with limited interaction between them. Trade is of course meaningful, as is the race over who settles the islands. Eventually this should solidify into 5-10 continental powers who can then go for a space race. Fwiw one of the continents should be worth around a 100 cities, who would have the will to do more conquering after that?

And civac is already at 20 as of this turn frown. btw the espionage graph tells me that he hasn't started building Ziggurats yet. Instead his power keeps on spiking. He should have enough vultures in AT's land though. Are these catapults to finish him off? Preparations for a naval attack on us scared ? We keep on minimal power. Maybe should whip some triremes out of Canoa / Madeira Boa?



Where do we found the horse island city? The GA isn't that far away at this point, so founding in the south we could have it working the copper mine/ the horse while waiting for Caste. The northern spot gets the instant clam, and an ocean bridge to Mjmd's island no it doesn't. If we decide for the southern spot Marinheiro should change to the library.
Also I whipped the library in Iemanjá as discussed - so do we leave the fur forest standing? If we still want to chop it the galley should drop off one worker this turn.

Não é Dinheiro, our stone filler, has become Hindu. We don't need the culture considering the new library in Iemanjá, but the citizens can probably use some spiritual uplift, as this city is the worst hit by the unimproved tiles epidemic, seeing as it doesn't even have grass forests. Eventually there'l be a banana plantation, lumbermills, and the quarry, but that's some way to go still. Interestingly no shrine has been built yet, unless I've missed something, althought their potential on this map is immense.

I think I vote for the southern spot. Long term the coast tile overlap is more useful there too.

Yeah, I think we don't chop the furs forest now that we decided to whip. Save the forest for later (market?) and use the worker for something else. We also want to be working the furs during the GA, so it would lose a hammer immediately.

Changed Marinheiro to library. Assigned engineer specialist in capital, the GPP will be useful eventually and we're low on available tiles for the next couple of turns. Gave the fish to island city so it grows end of turn. We want the pop high for the border pop 6 turns from now. CC can stay size 9 for a few turns.

Ramk declared war on Lazteuq while I was ingame. Probably good news -- mjmd will pile on that rather than start something with us.

Hooking up the stone is pretty urgent btw, are the galley workers headed there? Unless I'm forgetting something important I think we'll start our GA the moment we have CoL (if not 1-2 turns earlier even, I'd need to look more careful into that though). We'll 1-turn every tech heading there and with the overflow we may even 1-turn CoL.

edit: Or perhaps they need to start chopping the forests. You should set Moai in motion anyway.

The two coming to the cap are meant for the quarry, as are the two by Camunjerê. Of those in the north I wanted to send one to clear and pasture the jungle horse, but I'll reassess to see whether sending both to chop for Marinheiro instead is necessary.

Edit: and I don't think there can be a meaningful war between Ramk and Lazteuq, as there should be another player between them.

I think I'll drop the worker who still has movement left on the forest 1NW of Marinheiro this turn. Then you can decide what's best with the other one next turn (horse sounds good though). The unloaded worker can pre-chop the plains forest for a future worker and then move to the grassland one outside culture (no workers can reach that tile without wasting movement anyway).

For future reference related to GA: I counted something like 17-20 tiles we'll be working that does *not* have commerce (soooooo much river on this map). So if you want to calculate the extra commerce just do:

total pop + number of cities - 20

FWIW this mod still has the vanilla BtS "bug" (feature?) where tiles that are 2c before the GA don't get the financial bonus. A basic river cottage will yield 3 commerce, not 4, during the GA.
