[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

(June 3rd, 2021, 07:35)Rusten Wrote: For future reference related to GA: I counted something like 17-20 tiles we'll be working that does *not* have commerce (soooooo much river on this map). So if you want to calculate the extra commerce just do:
Code:
total pop + number of cities - 20
Nice.
Quote:FWIW this mod still has the vanilla BtS "bug" (feature?) where tiles that are 2c before the GA don't get the financial bonus. A basic river cottage will yield 3 commerce, not 4, during the GA.

Quick, post it in the mod thread so Charriu fixes it and updates the mod before we're there!

Do remember to account for switching to scientists though.

Visiting a friend this weekend so I might not be around to respond as of tomorrow morning.

(it's with double arrow bonus and KTB from 10)

TBS lost a small backline city to Commodore (must have been a galley fleet or some roaming HAs (btw Comm is in fact combining HAs and praets), and apparently got his plantation with the second silk resource pillaged as well. I still offered this, expecting him to reestablish the plantation soon.

I left a couple signs for micro discussion. Please consider that with 7 hammers in Canoa, the city can whip the forge next turn, so change that onlyif you deem it really naecessary / have a good alternative.

Ramk is approaching Iemanjá with a galley. I'll assume he's just scouting, but is he barbarian enough to have it loaded with 2 axes?

Oops.

We still go through with it? 1S of the sign I mean. Else the settler can go home and sit for after war or make the Dono settling attempt. (i moved the galley and WB ahead)

We're researching Med on overflow this turn, next Priesthood, then CoL will finish eot 109 or 110 I think (haven't run numbers). By my count we're finishing Moai only eot 111, but that should still be ok. Need to estimate yet if we can clear all the civic techs in an immediate GA (monarchy, feudalism, alphabet for philo, and we'd like to throw in construction).

We're tied 1st for hammers, and 3rd in CY, but civac should be 1st, and he's just getting started scared

No, that's just inviting trouble for no reason. The city isn't worth it.
We'll attack DZ soon, let's not give Mjmd a reason to flank us.

Mjmd wants a credit of 200 for 21 gpt. 5% feels very lowball to me, and it also delays our research (but maybe we want to wait a turn with the GA to get one more turn with Moai).

I'll resume playing in some 10-15 minutes, if you want to opine, but I suppose we don't take it. My question is rather, reoffer for 23?

Maré subiu got a Confu spread! Dono has it in 2 cities, and civac in one in ATlandia. I am pretty certain that Donovan founded it. Will he use Phi for a shrine? (I checked the list, there was a prophet born somewhere a bunch of turns ago, but no shrine yet coffee

Maré is a secondary GP pump. In case we miss Tao, we could consider still bulbing philo (on the way to Nat anyway), and use Pacifism there. We could also start building a monastery fwiw (if we were to convert more cities...?).

I made a very simple spreadsheet to estimate our GA beaker output (under the usual link)

It doesn't account for pop growth, nor library multipliers, nor specialist employment (which will likely bring down the stat). I'm counting 7 turns, because on the 8th we want to revolt, correct?

Basically, if we delayed Construction we could start right after CoL. If we do want it early during the GA though, we'd need to save up for a bit, like 2-3 turns. As mentioned, this also gives us more Moai GA turns (and general higher pop). I guess it makes sense. The only issue is the Tao race.

This confirms that we don't want to give Mjmd money right now.

one more competitor has Constru, and there has been a lot of activity on Donovan's formerly dead thread. No power yet from him

This is at 100% but actually we can get CoL at 0% from pure overflow crazyeye . I decided to spend our gold on 80% research though in the end, because we're getting our first market there this turn, better to save then.

GA next turn, or wait? I'll run the numbers next turn, but I think I want to push the button if possible, if only for the Tao race.

I found this works out very nice:

It sucks to chop out of borders, right? But here borders in Iemanjá will pop just next turn, in time before finishing the chop. Since the forest will then be surrounded by our culture, we should get it although it isn't in the culture of any city.

Rusten apparently thinks I can make that3 decision on my own. Uh...

We would definitely be able to get all the relevant techs in the GA. Still, I decided to hold off for 1 more turn. Reasons:

  1. population growth in 7 cities this turn
  2. a few (ok, 1?) lighthouse whip enabled next turn
  3. One more turn of GA Moai (we should be able to finish it next turn with GA hammers).
  4. Finally, so this isn't a pictureless report, have this shot with the never used religious spread map view feature:

We got another Confu spread, this time to Paraná. Donovan evidently has the holy city. With Phi a shrine should not be too much of a trouble? Unless he rushed out a lot of scientists already. More importantly 2/3 of our GP cities already have the same religion, which would be a lucky result with Tao. So I don't really see a lot of benefit in winning this race. It's good for
    - denial to irreligious continents, if there are any
    - a culture win attempt far down the line
    - free religion?
Crucially, I'm quite certain that we'd never a build a shrine ourselves. So, having the holy city or not hardly seems very relevant. I still think bulbing Philo is a good idea, for the civic and because it leads to Nat. It's just not as urgent.
But I do want to bring up the option of regularly researching Philosophy before the GA, in order to enjoy Pacifism during it. It takes 4 more turns, 3 with wealth builds for 40 gpt. That way we also would not need alphabet as early, so those beakers would be saved for now. Do you think we should consider this? In that case we'd need to switch research from Constru this turn already.

In religious foreign news TBS has converted to Buddhism and superdeath is shown as the founder on the scoreboard (we have no contact). This seems to point towards a TBS-Comm-Tarkeel-superdeeath-Joshy continent (clockwise).
And 3 players are offering KTB for Monarchy. Besides Ramk, who apparently oracled it, those are Charriu and Lazteuq, who are both Spi and are enjoying the earlier access to Serfdom in this mod version. And Charriu got a prophet, so I expect a hindu shrine.

Nah, just stick to the plan IMO. GA next turn.

Having alphabet is useful for bulbing other stuff too, we'll get more great scientists (education, printing press, etc).
