Turn 125

Well, in hindsight stopping the attack on TBS to go after Gavagai was probably a mistake. TBS was able to mobilize his knights faster than I was able to mobilize my small stack, and in the end he grabbed about half of Gavagai's cities. OH got nothing, Cornflakes got a little, and now we're sitting at TBS with 20 cities, me with 17, and OH & Cornflakes at 14 apiece.

I can see everything. I could have given you a stitch of the entire world if you want it. I can see builds in half of TBS and OH's cities. I only have sight on about a third of Cornflakes' cities. But I can tell you that the vast bulk of TBS' army is sitting in the ruins of Persepolis with only small stacks of half-dozen knights guarding his other borders. I can tell you that OH has put most of his defenses south of his capital, near his border with TBS. I can tell you that Cornflakes is by far the weakest of us, but it's the stand-off between our armies that keeps Cornflakes safe - for now.

I can tell you that it's very close, but OH is about to jump ahead thanks to building the Taj Mahal and going for Liberalism first.

Myself, I am aiming for Divine Right. Perhaps I could have pushed that back, but I really wanted to get the Minaret going.

I can also tell you that if I'm going to win then I'm going to need a plan. I've been kind of mailing in turns, just focusing on infrastructure. But it is needed. Moai has been built, the Epics have been started, and I somehow got through my first golden age without takign a single screenshot of it. I'm still a little behind in tech, probably because i should be emphasizing Wealth builds more than I am. But I've also just gotten myself into Mercantilism, so I feel the next place to go is up to Representation and then probably Cuirassiers.

I thought the score was pretty cool when I got my turn today

Anyway, I'm teching the top half of the tree for Cuirs. Going to go Music > Nationalism > Gunpowder > Mil Trad and then probably on to Representation. Need to think if I want to get Education in there first for Oxford. I probably do.

Turn 138

I suppose if Commodore is going to take my turns for a week then I better start writing some better reports about what is actually going on in the empire.

First off, Cornflakes is sneaky sneaky. Watch out for him.

Granted, it helps when you can see into most of his cities. Cornflakes really does not have anything serious regarding an army and as of right now the token defense on his border is more in place in case TBS were to try something round-about than defending against Cornflakes.

Second, Old Harry has communicated several times that he wants to attack on turn 142. He will hit from one end, and me from another. This was signaled by trading city names along with gold amounts to indicate the turn. My theatre of war will be coming out of Ralphie Buffalo

The question is how to crack this. TBS had a population advantage and was able to gain the contested 2nd ring tiles just by running more specialists than I had citizens. So there is no ability to strike the city with 2-movers (I've used my Great Artist for the current golden age), I think the more sensible idea will be to move my antiquated stack in anyway and then have my own 20-stack of knights (off screen currently) ready and waiting on the Silver tile so they are able to counter and kill his cuirs when they come after my ancient era trash.

I'm also going to start building Culture out of Ralphie as soon as the temple finishes. Maybe I won't even wait for it to finish.

Finally, demos:

TBS and I are both in a golden age right now, so I am encouraged by everything not Crop-Yield related. The Crop should hopefully be solved with a successful war.

Turn 139

So while I'm happy with my current teching rate, I'm also in a little bit of a tech deficit due to having to compete with the wizardry that is afoot whenever Old Harry and TBS are in games.

I'm about 2 turns behind on Nationalism, and we can see in the lower right that TBS is 2 turns away from Rep fueled specialists. (Well, he's closer to 5 turns now since he just revolted.) I realized here that I don't yet have Alphabet - if I did I might have built research everywhere. So I decided to sneak in Alphabet and we'll still pick up Nationalism in 2.

And yet, I still have the capital on Sistine Chapel. Well, it's going to be nice for all the border tension.

More barracks and catapult builds coming up everywhere. War is 3 turns away, apparently. At least OH goes ahead of me in the turn order

Sistine is the 4th wonder of the Monk Economy, really. Never underrate it normally, but if you're going to be spamming temples and cathedrals anyway?

Is there a CV attempt in the cards?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Nothing concrete set yet because I just haven't felt that there is a realistic chance: Old Harry and TBS aren't going to let something like that sit. However, I probably should at least do the work of identifying the top 3 cities and making sure they have cathedrals for starters.

I could also start going for Great Artists. Right now I'm working on my great people for the eventual 3rd GA, but we could reasonably consider it cut off after 3 and just make Great Artists from that point on.

FWIW, I really regretted missing that one by one turn in PB58.

Don't give me ideas, Tarkeel. Last thing I need is an excuse to build more wonders when the whole map is about to erupt into war lol
