Recasted Magic

Since v1.1.0 has expanded modding capabilities greatly, I plan to make an extensive mod that focuses on flavor and interesting asymmetry over game balance. In particular, I:

- Plan to make the distinction between "primitive" and "advanced" races sharper
- Emphasize on racial traits and flavor more
- Redo magic spells to reward high book plays more
- Make units and summons roughly equal, atleast until good Rare tier summons
- Make Spell of Mastery a viable defensive play rather than coming late 
- Generally improve on the pacing of spells so Rare and Very Rare spells don't come so late

I'll be interested in trying this out, especially ideas for differentiating races.  But my gut reaction is that faster paced wouldn't be better.

The pace seems balanced around a general 15-25% reduction and leaving lowest uncommon & very rare alone. Like a slightly faster setting in a 4X game

I imagine more than that will need to be accompanied with other changes, not the current parameters of Caster of Magic.
