I have played single player BTS extensively. I always play on Noble as I do not like it when the AI in any game gets extra bonuses over the human player. They should just get smarter as you increase the difficulty. I am new to multiplayer other than playing a few times with friends. I see we have to download the Close to Home mod. I am a fan of vanilla BTS, but this mod looks great except for a few things:
Barbarians were toned down. I usually play on raging barbarians so I am not a fan of this change. If barbarians are a problem then you need more military. Why can't I raze a barbarian city? Barbarian cities sometimes spawn in bad locations so I will raze them and settle in a better location.
The events system was gutted. I like playing with events on for variety and storytelling, so this is pretty bad. Why not just leave it in, as there is the option to turn it off? Events balanced the slavery civic because there was a chance of slave revolts. Old World has become my new favorite civ-like game for the ancient and classical era because of its event system.
Gutted the AP. Why? No more crusades I guess. No more religious victory either.
Jungle cannot grow on resources. Why not? Better improve it early, build a road there, or get Ironworking.
