What's the expectation for how long people will take on picks, btw?

Im fine with whatever, if we aim to start on 4th i would say 24 hours to make the first think should be enough?

but as i say, i dont mind wait more if you guys feel you need.

I'm traveling for the weekend and will have less time to work on the map; it is in a final draft stage and I will post material for review before I leave. Early wednesday is probably the earliest I can have the map ready for Ramk.

Edit: Well, that's not entirely true, I should be able to swap in your selections, but I can't give any guarantees.

generally 24hrs is the standard for each person to get their pick(s) in. No real rush normally, but the sooner the picks are in the sooner the game can start.

Obviously if everyone took 24hrs for each pick we wouldn't start for two weeks (bad). That being said normally what happens is people take a day or so to digest to the starts and have pretty good ideas what they want. So once people start picking it usually goes pretty fast.

I believe I'm having issues, so I'll try the detailed instructions in a bit. (Using the Steam version, for reference). But this is how far I got:

Installed the mods, binary, and wrapper, and created the shortcut as in the instructions. This loaded fine. I then went to connect to the server. This also seemed to go fine. (During some later tinkering I discovered that the game gives me an error message during login if I'm not using the "original release - unsupported" beta, though this didn't seem to affect anything.) I selected a civ, hit okay, and went to load the game. The first sign of issues was when I got to the "finishing" screen, which appeared to hang on a black screen for a while. But it eventually sent me to the opening screen with the 'it is 4000 BC, blah blah blah'. I hit okay. I was then immediately hit with this screen:

thanks for this detailed error description. This is not a common issue and the logs on the server didn't show an error/a hint. . . 

 Just as an FYI in case it comes up again, I found the problem. It turned out that the .dll files got caught by my antivirus, and while I had previously restored one of them, I hadn't restored the other. So nothing particularly weird here; I'm just a bit dumb after midnight lol

you ned to wait Rekenner to pick and then you will pick, its as easy as you fill the coment as JackRB did
