Closed borders, Caravel stayed. Normal for BTS, although still a shit mechanic imo that Caravels can go thru rival territory... but whatever. Declared war. IT STAYED. Now THAT is an issue. Think about just running a stack of caravels thru someones territory declaring war on a whim and blockading/sitting on valuable resources/sea lanes that shouldnt be in any trouble with the normal amount of warning.. So yeah, had to play this turn a bit different.

Basic plan is: Ive lost the game already. Emp difficulty and no late game trait + a neighbor that took my gems + another neighbor that reached and took another gems that could be mine.. + this being a "this is your blob" style map means IMP was more or less... bad. Creative was pretty good, but as you can see, wasnt a deciding factor on what empires are favored right now. So, since i stopped Amica from straight up rolling over Laz/civac because they didnt want to build units (at the cost of an island of mine because Amicalola i guess couldnt tell that i was posturing the whole time? idk.) Main stack is going to try and go down the left side of our sea and tempt Mjmd into attacking out/building more land units. Meanwhile i have a rather large BUT still needing to be upgraded sea fleet that id really like to offload onto the beaches of Mjmd's capital area and fork 2-4 cities.

Im not a fan of set-area maps much anymore. Blob it up from now on /nod.

I've looked into it and this is exactly the same behaviour as in BtS, but I agree that caravels staying on a war declaration isn't great. I see what I can do about that and what exactly causes that. On the plus side caracels can't blockade.

There's also some potential for abuse with defensive pacts, as they declare back on the aggressor. Caravels do get kicked out if they're in a city, FWIW.

spending all my gold on upgrading.. switched enough wealth builds over to produce more units... and still upgrade 2 triremes next turn. If i can keep his Caravel numbers low, he doesnt have much for galleys to counter-invade. MEANING, i should be able to throw a wrench in his whole defensive plan..

Enough catapults to hopefully not take much collateral from Mjmd, and just enough of them + elephants that the city is doomed. But still... this is just to keep him focused on non-caravel builds if possible.

If he engages me with his caravels.. he loses control of the sea. (providing normal combat luck..) I currently have.. i believe double his ship count. Goal is still to drop off a ton of units SW-SW of CouchCushions.

Not whipping the Moai city anymore, as it shouldnt be needed. Top 3 production cities wont be whipped and just churn out boats or units depending on what i need, rest will whip boats if coastal. .. .  . which is basically EVERY city. Did i mention im going Engineering-Astro?

Well, he managed to both kill an elephant (at just over 60% odds) and reinforce the city i need as a canal.. Thats the bad news (i also lost a city to the south/east.. but idc about that) The good news is i won some 30% fights with my navy. Not a ton, but enough that i didnt need to really risk any of my galleys attacking caravels. SO, his navy is basically dead. I have 10+ caravels in the water and a ton of galleys. Whats a guy to do...

Here's hoping that i can raze either his capital or the hindu holy city. I originally wanted to land on the hill to possibly be able to go towards "rocks" ect and try to raze them if things went well, but his War elephant positions and the amount of gold + finishing units leave me unlikely to raze either. Still likely going to try, Ill have to see how he moves stuff around. I have total control of the seas, so loading them back up and patrolling to at least keep his garrisons honest isnt a bad plan... Not liking the 1tile islands when i think i want to attack them. Gonna need amphibous knights or something to crack those.

GKC has been giving me a bit of his gold each turn as he slowly gets eaten, and if anyone jumps in im done for as well. I can hold Mjmd where he is on each front due to the 1st-strike of my cats, but its not looking great. Honestly, Either Jowy or Amica wins this. Probably Amica as they have knights, a great econ, and are in a great position map wise to hit myself/mjmd. I give this game... to t215 or so, when Amica wins by concession.

He brought enough defenders that i couldnt hope to raze Water.. BUT!

I had 1 extra WC remaining. Had roughly average luck for the amount of damage done per War Chariot, and got bad luck getting a withdrawal vs outright winning.. Had to delete the victorious WC's to avoid giving away xp.. but they have proven they are worthy. Making Egypt not a TERRIBLE pick on this map... almost.

So happy i got to do SOMETHING this pitboss.
