Turn 142

Started my GA and demos start looking awesome. 

       

I still think that my 23 cities wont be as good as the 29 cities of Bellarch once he kills jack. He is making some weird choices, like building a trebuchet in defense... i cant really understand the reason. Bing gave peace to Jack, and has a stack next to jack, so who know, maybe he atacks bellarch somehow after all? At least the units TPed into jacks land again and might be enough to hold a bit that city.

Lets see the fornt this turn:

               

The interesting news is, Bellarch getting teology for the AP, i guess.

So my thiking is, if he gets enough time to consolidate jacks land and get the hammer bonnus in every city then game is 100% lost. So my only way to avoid it is getting it myself. So instead of pushing guilds after feud, ill get teology and then guilds, this turn might be cruzial for getting Nat afterwards, but i guess my second GA will get nat and gunpowder and MT, getting all the monk buildings done in almost everyplace so that when the AP gets online i have a hammer boost for the war. Im even thinking on using the GE for the AP, but Taj is more important and also more expensive, so the GE makes more sense there. Although bellarch wont get ever the TAJ, since getting Nat will destroy his MoM, and using that wonder for just 1 GA, sims not as good. The thng is , can Josh get Taj before i do without GE? im start doubting. Again, i have noone to talk to. I guess ill sleep on it.

If im unlucky with the GP for the next GA i hope i can at least use some of those to bulb anything usefull. Lily will 80% get a priest in 3 turns and orchid will have 12% to get a priest in 6 turns. So the odds should be getting first a GP and second a GS. Lets see if it works out, please RNGesus.

Turn 143

Im amazed of the power of Josh right now, i thought he was a bit down in tech, but he hability to get knights in this GA is amazing for me. I thought he still needed machinery but it seems he doesnt. Im amazed about this right now.

I think i might get guilds in 1 turn because of the OF. This turn it sais last tick is 150b, so if im able to get those beakers in the OF of teocrazy i might bet guilds at the same time as him. 

Even thought he might seem he has my tech rithm but he hasnt, he is going full wealth, he is getting money in 100% tech, so his military production is crap right now, he has a couple of galleys threating some coastal cities. So im making some longbows just in case. 

   

I swaped into vassallage and serfdom making my production an gold rise in 30 units so im glad the possition i have... But...

Bing declared war into jack so Bellarch is gonna destroy him so easy, im thinking on declaring on Bing to force him to defend my front and forgot about Jack. I need jack to last more time. Jack keeps not getting my horses, iron and incense... If he dont next turn ill ask him 1 gpt to see if that sounds better for him.

Turn 144

Got TGL and Parthenon last turn. And Guilds is 1 turn, so nice!!!

So next plan is to get CS if 1 turn, otherwise ill get drama, then filo then nat, probably before nat getting meditation so that i can make some monasteries for AP. Now im a bit nervous on the rolls i get for the next 2 GP, next turn ill bron a profet (85%) or Merch(12%) Or GE or GA in a really super weird roll. Next one will be Scientific (60%) or Priest (17%) Or engeneer (17%). So the worst case will be 2 priest, the problem is that next GP will be made on lily with again 85% odds for priest. The only way i could get faster another one could be getting caste and starb a city into something i want, probably merch. But i really hope i dont have this problem, since my second GA would be much more delayed, and instead i would get the Taj one. 

A couple of mechanical question: 
-If i have 3 GP which 2 will be used for the GA? If i lose the GE in the Ga instead of the Taj ill be so mad. Is there a way to make 100% the other 2 GP into the GA?
-If i get taj before the second GA with GP, will that make me need 3 GP instead of 2? I think it wouldnt, but im not sure

Jack retook one of his cities, and then bellarch retook it losing one GG, Bing didnt played yet so im unsure if he is gonna kill jack instead of trying to catch up. If he atacks jack ill be forced into atacking Bing.

   

Bellarch started building AP last turn, which i already though about, ive checked again and im pretty sure i ll get the AP a couple of turns before him, since he is stagned and not really able to make more hammers, also i got Teo 1 turn after so he doesnt know i got it. Also he is going for optics. Im pretty confident that there is no astro islands, because the only "black spaces" are on the corners of the continent , so bellarch and rekenner would be so much screwed to get one of those, and i think Tarkeel (and the rest of the lurkers) wouldnt have agreed. So he will just get 1 extra trade route, which will destroy Bellarch economy in case he declares war on me, and the less cities josh will get in case of war. So ill focus in land units. Once i get ironclaws i wont need astro and will defend good enough my seas i would say. Or at least i will try that way, also not losing Colossus is really important for me.

Demos still looking fine, im getting closer to Bellarch power and once i start making knights instead of cats and pikes im sure ill get his power faster. Im getting more confident with my possition, i fear Bellarch is able to get Jack and bing faster than i get Josh, but i think the monk wonders will give me the slightly starts ill need to get close enough to bellarch. Right now i have much more tech than him, since he has not any i dont have and i have several he doesnt have. If Jack last enough i might start putting the odds closer to 50-50

Which units are used to start a golden age

The game will use the unit closest to the triggering unit. If units are on the same tile, then the oldest unit will be used meaning the unit that was created first.

The simplest way is to form a group with the great people you intend to start the golden age with (EDIT: and move them onto their own tile away from any other great people), and click the button with the group selected. Charriu’s info is also good to know if you’re doing some super tight micro and the great people are being born in different cities on the exact turn you need them, for example.

@El Grillo: What you described is exactly the way to lose GPs you want to keep. Or in other words, that doesn't work.

Perhaps I did not describe it clearly enough, but that is the method I have used in every game I remember playing, and it has always behaved as expected. Let me test it in world builder and report back.

EDIT: I see I forgot to state the very important step of forming a group with them and then moving them onto their own tile away from any other great people. Civac is correct in that if you try using a group of 2 great people in a tile with 3 great people on it, it will not behave as expected.

Yes, if you do it like that it works. But it works because they are on the same tile, not because they are grouped.

Thanks guys!! I was afraid it was always the oldest GP. which would be really bad for me. But being like that ill make it work.

Not sure if i asked it wrong the second question, none of you have answered it.

If i get a second GA with GP ill consume 2 GP, if i get the second GA with TAJ will i need 3GP for the next ga? I think it will be still 2, but just in case im wrong.
