[59] Miguelito and Rusten move stacks to berimbau rythms

If there's ever a game for ironclads this is it, but do keep in mind that they are annoyingly slow. From the open seas enemies can just avoid them. But for the inner sea area here they should dominate. Can also get +1 movement with promotions from drydock.

We'd only be 1 tech away from railroad then too, so I kinda like it.

How is levees in your thinking? I ve never get to this point i feel that they are kind of expensive.

Do you think they are "always" worth buidling? Or just in some cities?

I look forward to them! We don't have very many cities that can build them though.
But for Corta Cana, Angola, Vai Você and Bananeira they'll be excellent. Lavandeira and Camunjerê can also build them, although in Lavandeira we're mostly working off river tiles because the rivers are all cottaged. Lone of the astro island cities as well - arguably I made an error there not planning for levees while dotmapping.
Wellerman would also look gorgeous with a levee, but given the activity in Charriu's thread I expect our musketeers to be mostly killed and us evacuating next turn frown. On that note, I clearly don't have the nerves currently to play this game competitively. I'm having fun either way, but If civac declared it is possible I would just fold in a couple of turns due to trying something stupid...
Back to levees, we've been lagging in Mfg for a long while now, and I hope they'll help fixing that, together with US in the upcoming GA.
Regarding the cost, I think most people here would build a 60h monastery for the AP bonus, right? That's a building that obsoletes. Probably an 80h temple as well. So you could argue the levee should surely be worth it if you're working some 5-6 river tiles constantly.

Just had a look.
Charriu offered peace for 300 gold!
I did not accept right away, because I wanted to know first if we still had a stack.
Turns out we do. We killed 5 knights and lost a few more units, and several are badly wounded, but we're standing. Charriu has a stack of injured knights in range of our pikes. If I don't attack them, I expect him to accept if I reoffer peace. If not, Rusten's chaotic neutral assessment stands and I'd just hope that we make it to nukes in this game yet. Same if he uses the knights to pillage towns.
If we get peace, we'll have to draft and reinforce a little, but our prospects of actually setting foot in Mjmdland are suddenly back on the table. In ten turns we can have rifles if needed, and will not have to fear his cuirassiers.

Otoh we could also kill all the knights and try to advance while defending against his cuirs. What's your preference?

Got any pictures? Hard to tell what the situation is truly like from your description. But from what you've said/experienced earlier, it sounded like a peace treaty with Charriu would help a lot. It's hard to war with him when we have such limited ferry capacity.

At least civac has already played now.

If you think you can cripple Charriu it might be best to eliminate his stack and keep going. Not sure he can be trusted in any case. You'll just have to weigh the peace of mind 10 turns of peace gives you vs. the potential gain of wiping his stack.

But I can't log in to have a look.

Here you go:

must.... resist..... temptation...!

But seriously, peace is much better. If he tilted and just whipped cuirassiers everywhere it would cause us untold headaches - and I think he could afford to do it, because Lazteuq in his back is busy conquering the Mongols.

They are painfully vulnerable...
Him asking for 300g for peace is a little rich this turn.

I was wondering how they even got there, because they had to come from the south, and I think I know - apparently Charriu closed borders with Mjmd to bring his wounded knights home and out of range of our stack, but then instead he got ported a more direct route out of borders (as we all know, those mechanics are very weird). They already have OB reestablished.

I am inclined to believe in Charriu's reliability, not kill his knights, and offer peace back for 300 gold. Not going to haggle over coins if it means the conquest could work out at last.
