[Spoiler PB62] Vanrober in a new chapter learning from Miguelito

Yeah, in a few turns we ll know some more about our land and we will be bale to plan our cities correctly
Turn 9
Mjmd capitol seems greener. I think settling in the gold spot now makes so much sense. we need to claim that spot before he does, and also getting the city in hill will help our defense. I think next move should go to the forest SW I think a dotmap like this should make some sense i think, what do you think? this is demos
Turm 11
No new info by moving into the forest with the scout. But now we have graphs of Fabled: Demos seems close, only that 1 person got lvl 2 his capitol and improved his GNP and food for that reason. I guess there was a coastal start. Either SD or Tarkeel or Nau because of the pick i would say.
Damn, just now I realize how close they are. Is this really what you guys voted for (genuine question, I haven't looked up the sheet)?
Before we come to the dotmap, I feel like having the Malian capitol 8 tiles from ours is pretty drastic in itself. Once they find our capitol (have they yet?), a skirmisher rush will be really tempting for them. Do they have hunting yet (F6 should tell)? I suddenly feel like our main goal right now has to be to survive in decent shape until t50. I also feel like we pretty clearly need to settle for the copper asap, and possibly on top of it, if the spot is half decent. Given what we know now, I have to admit that you were right. Would be much better to be Mali than to face them right now. Now onto your 2nd city dot, in a duel that would be the preferred outcome, yes (assuming we could hold it). But our borders touching Mjmd's capital's 2nd ring can not really be acceptable to him, and I'd rate his tilt probability at something like 90% in that case. And we really don't want to have to fight off his skirmisher rush. So if we somehow can get to axes without getting skirmisher choked I think there is an argument for the PH 2N of the wheat. That way he would have to settle a border city for the floodplains on flatland, and we would have at least a chance of peaceful relations going forward. Of course he could settle for the gold first ring, rendering our city pretty subpar, but then he'd have to claim the tile from our culture first and the spot would be pretty hard for him to defend. But you may also decide that friendship is not an option here, and go for the FPH if he allows it. Either way with Vicky and us needing copper badly he probably can have the spot if he wants it. Get rid of the forests adjacent to our cap, and the one 2N1E, asap. Your 3rd city spot destroys a lovely ice hill flood plains, which is beautiful in tis own right, and a pretty decent tile with a mine or windmill. But if it's the best option I'll accept it. Unforested tundra deer is a pretty bad tile though, just 4/0/0 and takes an extra turn to improve. Btw, what do we get in exchange for no calendar resources at our cap? The furs? That would be nice
we didnt see his scout around the north of our capitol so he doesnt know for now i think.
He also have some gems in his east so that migth give him a better goal than desert gold. I think we can defend with archers vs skirmishers i think. That could be a good option
Turn 12
ITs fine, We can play next game if this one seems little. this is the spreadsheet, it seems commodore liked more the Bing and Fabled posts xD https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...edit#gid=0 Mjmd did see the coper and our border, mb i missed it somehow. Ill keep rounding the surroundings. If the copper is in the south of our supposed capitol we might have some isues. Maybe archery fast makes sense Mjmd did have hunting already, so we might already be done. I think noone expected this cramped map. Im glad we started with warrior xD Im putting EPs on him to see if it works
I ve been wondering a bit what to do, i think rushing archery might be a good option to avoid the skirmishers rush. Since archers do good enough against skirmishers while we grab copper.
I think the safest places for him to settle and not break any floodplains is sharing the wheat and setting either in the gras or in any of the plains of the third ring of his capitol. Any of those possitons wold destroy our gold plainshill that would be so nice with that ton of floodplains, So if we settle faster than him we could grab the gold and the floodplains, but that would prbably mean he mad the rest of the game. After PB56 i think i deserve the right to be annoying with planting agro cities... But he got skirmishers, so we should really rush for archers in that case. If we refuse of the floodplains im afraid he doesnt see that as a give, but as a must from our part. Which i wouldnt agree with. I started simming a bit, and settling the 2 city turn 32 with 3 warriors and 2 workers might be good enough. I went wheel in my sims but maybe siming to rush archery and agro plant should be a good option. HOw do you feel about it? we would have 2 cities in PH and archers are 6 strenght while his skirmishers are 4. So i think it should be fine, the only problem is him wokign with his skirmishers to burn our land, but we should be able to crap copper sooner rather than later, and maybe mongols can take advantage of his early rush. In anycase we will need to see where copper is in 2 turns, we miss BW for 3 beakers (
let's just wait for copper, but:
1) I still consider the decision in PB56 to attack you correct. You would not give OB, so we could not attack elsewhere. We were Genghis of Rome, so we had to attack. And it eventually worked, and with a few better tactics, luck, or less diligent defense on your part might have worked better. 2) If you're still mad at Mjmd and want to play it as a duel that's fine, and it is possible that that is what we'll have to do here anyways, but: If we settle the second city on that FPH or the gold hill without copper, I give Mjmd 95% to tilt and whip all the skirmishers he can. We might keep the cities for a while, but he'd pillage all our resources, and we'd never connect copper. I just can't see how he would accept that city placement. 3) I'm very skeptical whether archers will do us any good here. Yes we keep the cities, but what can we do about a few skirmishers just sitting on our hills, impeding our workers, pillaging the wheat, etc? I don't think they're fundamentally better than warriors in that regard (cost/benefit), and I'd rather have us settle on top of copper and connect it with a road asap (so we need wheel) Is t30 the earliest settler we can get? I assume with just one worker, or are there 2? Can it be sped up with a whip? Once we know where copper is, we may even want to leave the scout close to Mjmd's borders for a while. |
