[PB62] Tarkeel and civac feel the need for speed

Turn 51 (1960 BC)
So we tickled the bear, but it wasn't sleeping as soundly as we'd hoped. SD didn't take the peace that civac offered, instead attacking out with two axes, winning one and losing one. Here's what he has in the capital; The spear has 10% fortify.

A barbarian archer appears south of Spa, so we have to swap it to an emergency axe and work the mine to be able to whip it next turn. To the north a warrior and spear both appear. Here's the overview:

Civac: I'm not sure what's best to use the southern workers for. The one at Spa should probably start making some floodplain cottages, while the two that was with the attack should probably finish the goldmine before farming the shared floodplain.

SD losing one of his axes was a bit lucky. Retreat with the axes on the forest which increases our odds to reasonable levels. He seems to also have misplaced the workers and may not be able to road to pursue us. The chariots should race to Spa.

Workers I'd finish the gold mine this turn and then the partially built farm.

Chariots won't make it to Spa in time, so we need the axe there. Finished the gold and started cottage at Spa and Silverstone, the latter can go farm the Rice at Monaco.

Right forgot about that. You started a cottage on the tile S-S of Silverstone? That's what I intended to do too.

This war was a bit of a debacle. The lack of defensive units massively delays the granaries in Sakhir and Spa due to emergency whips. I should have analyzed SD's graphs before committing. For one thing it would have been possible to see that his earliest combat unit was an axe and to estimate the capability of his second city pretty accurately.

As is, we got lucky to not lose a city to barbs in the north and that SD got one of his axes killed (only ~50% chance of that happening). The war could easily have been a disaster instead of merely a debacle.

So how is it going? mischief

Tarkeel, where would you want to place the next cities? One should be Coldcorn I think. Is there another strong spot? Maybe near Spa?

Turn 57 (1720 BC)
I had less free time than I thought I'd have while traveling, but luckily Civac was happy to cover the turns. As you might have gathered, Superdeath took the peace eventually, after going one for one on axes. We got a bit too greedy and didn't decode his graphs properly or we'd know he had an axe too many for us. We're still in pretty good shape, and the economy is better than we'd feared: +14 vs -28 gpt in binary research. What is one to do with such an abundance of cash?

Silverstone just finished a settler that's heading south to the PigSpike site which will be settled T59. It will whip another next turn that will go to Marbletusk in the west, settling T60.

In the south, Spa will be sending a settler to the DeerCorn site on T66. It could go out faster but we don't have the worker labor for it to be worth the rush. Coldcorn and SilverCove are likely to follow at some point after.

The keen eyed will se that we're finally finishing off Masonry; we want to be able to whip walls once the enforced peace with SD expires. We're even expending some heavy worker labor to hook up the stone before the peace expires. Spa will whip a spear that can go keep Zandvoort safe from surprise chariots. All in all it's costly but probably well worth it.

A brief overview of the cities:
Silverstone has got it's granary but is running low on happiness until the gems and ivory are hooked up.
Sakhir is mainly there for the copper, but is working the deer and horses, and will take over Silverstone's cottage as needed. Has a granary chopped out.
Monaco is working the gold to pay for our cities and will whip out it's granary pretty soon.
Spa is probably the city with the highest potential, seeing as it's Fabled's former capital. It will give away it's deer to the pig city once it's founded, but it can still use it's granary to grow onto quite a few floodplain cottages.
Zandvoort is establishing a pretty safe border against SD, but until it can expand border and pick up the deer it's not going to be a very good city.

In news from afar, Mjmd has declared war on Naufrager and took a city. Superdeath still only has met ourself and Vanrober, which is quite silly given this:

That is Superdeath and Naufragar separated by a single tile without making contact.

Turn 60 (1600 BC)
Operation: Kill the Economy continues as planned, and with the two new cities of Indianapolis (T59) and Kyalami (T60) we're down to -3 gpt. Kyalami will be working the gems soon, and Indianapolis will be a whipping pump working the pigs and deer for quite some time.

Our scout has been mapping Superdeath from the other side, and he looks very squeezed on land. Both the cities we can see have barracks, so we're preparing to face shock axes with chariot support as soon as the enforced peace expires. Zandvoort will whip down out a wall just in time. Oh, Superdeath is yet to make contact with his other neighbors.

Mjmd looks to be in a good position and is also spitting out new cities, but we're quite happy with the border between us for now.

Indianapolis hosted the third World Championship of Drivers race in 1950, which was held without any of the european drivers. The circuit itself has hosted races since 1909, but the previous Formula 1 race at the circuit was back in 2007 due to the infamous 2005 race.

The Kyalami circuit opened in 1961 and hosted Formula 1 until the pressure of apartheid forced become to great for even this circus. It returned briefly for 1992-93.

If you want to roll the turn:

SD demanded Zandvoort when I logged in earlier. His power went up by 4k. So either a spear or a chariot. One of his axes is hanging around on the far side of his holdings and wouldn't be able to join an attack quickly.

Finish the stone at Zandvoort. There is no need to whip the walls immediately since SD already played and there are no units in sight. He can't pillage the stone next turn even with a chariot. Not whipping right away is better for granary filling.

Cities are fine as they are, except check that Silverstone switched from the oasis to a lake.

You can move the chariot in the north one tile east, so it can clean up after the axe next turn if necessary. But I leave unit movement to you.

It's better not to make a double move here.

Let the archer come
