Flattery will get you everywhere. Normal Mjmd spreadsheet below. Also incorporating "whos the beatdown".
PB54 small post about:
Speaking of my PB62 analysis, I may have realized I broke a major rule for myself and didn't fully think through how my pick went with the size of the map. I expect a medium map based on votes, but the combo I picked is probably better on a larger map. OOOPSSS. Not that I think its a bad pick still mind. I still like organized stake claim to oracle and even not early courthouses, but its really odd the UU just is actually kind of worse. Its better in some ways, but I'm hoping no one attacks me with axes early. Vultures with city raider can attack ok, but I would prefer not to be the beat down.
Anyways shorter than my normal, I'm tired.
Fabled: Mehmed II (ORG/EXP) of Ottomans - Love everything about this restricted pick even though Ottamans was likely not first pick based on how long it took to choose. I mentioned I like these traits for this start and the UB rather than just being the sideshow might be fairly relevant. Don't steal my HG FABLE!!!! Probably should. Don't expect early beat down.
Cornflakes: Boudicca (AGG/CHA) of Egypt - If you want to beat down with Egypt pick creative. Gives you a better chance to place a good horse city. Map designers USUALLY (looking at you PB62) make sure copper is somewhat viable, but horse isn't always a 1st ring food situation. Plus creative makes it so you can settle on a horse if need be. Anyways, expect beat down. Cornflakes is one of the top tier players so I'm still very scared.
JackRB: Victoria (FIN/IMP) of Vikings - I love you Vicky, but you just aren't for emperor or at least not with such a food heavy start on a medium sized map. Imp just isn't needed. Vikings should get more love though and I was considering so good there. Not early beat down.
Ginger: Gandhi (SPI/PHI) of Rome - Rome is a good civ people. I expect it to be picked very CtH game. I'm not 100% positive what the Gandhi plan is here, but I'm dearly hoping it works. Not early beat down?
Mr. Cairo: Suryavarman (EXP/CRE) of China - Cairo is like the perfect replacement player. Skilled and loves developed empires. I haven't particularity been impressed with Cairo's early game, so its possible that this is a pick in rectifying that weakness. Can he develop an economy though to keep up with expansion though? Probably should be beat down no later than machinery.
Superdeath: Augustus of Maya - Superdeaths random random isn't that surprising to me. Even if I like his pick (which isn't normal) the map is usually not conductive to whatever he is trying to do. Imp/Cre Egypt - 23 tile rush distance! And then sometimes his picks are just bad. That being said I'm pretty sure he should just take the most picked leaders and civs in CtH and create a random calc there instead of actual pure random. At least his civ has two plans. He can SD rush someone with Holkans or go more of a religous route. I'm really made he got random Ind actually. I could 100% see him skipping pottery to go straight Oracle and I really wanted to grab pottery first (and probably still will). That being said if the starts are even closely mirrored he is going to have resource issues early. Maybe beat down (mostly because its SD).
Pindicator: San Martin (CHA/CRE) of Greece - Pin indicated in my PB62 thread he wanted my leader instead which makes me feel more confident than I had before. He also posted a "sorry it took so long I wanted to make sure I really wanted this leader". Which makes me even more think he values Cha highly for this start. Greece I'm assuming is just for starting techs and better spear with slight coloseum synergies. Should be beat down no later than construction.
Bing: Zara Yaqob (ORG/CRE) of Mali - I was noodling with this exact combo for PB62 (and evidently Van was too lol). Anyways good stuff with side of good stuff. No synergy but good stuff x2 is synergy of its own. I'm very interested if starts are near mirrors or if they have easier early food requirements. This civ pick makes me think they are at least somewhat different as other than SD random they are the only ones who didn't select at least 1 food tech civ. Not beat down.
