Huh? I think you're taking about a different game. I think that was the one game where Commodore did not invade pindicator (unless I missed something in the early game)

Maybe. For some I was sure that the game Pindi/Scooter chose their tech too late was also the game they fled over the sea when losing a war.

Edit: That was PB 8, apparently.

Some yee old 4:30 AM analysis. Been a second. Here is a PB59 song while you read.

I PMed Bing to see where I met his scout IF I would have seen as I believe we met T5 and then he double moved on T6. Will see if he is nice or not. Seem likely either N or NW because this turn I found Ginger.

Ya I chose the wrong civ for this tight of a map; silly Mjmd not following one of his basic civ pick rules. The good news is it looks like that gold in the north is a midpoint that direction and we know 12 tiles was a min distance, which would track. Therefore I have two plain hills over a river as borders in the N & NW that would give a creative city from an opponent all middle contested tiles. Even Vanrober would be able to tell that's a good border split (I say this with love). BTW creative with wheel seems to be a good pick on Tarkeel maps and Bing was only player with that combo. Tarkeel doesn't seem to like giving good 2nd cities that are connected naturally by trade and we see their love of 2nd ring fish evident. Creative would also let me settle freely 1E of the gold to grab the dry wheat. I haven't done the micro yet, but I assume the wet corn will be my 2nd city As is I'll probably settle 1NE to share the Oasis and save the dry wheat for a filler down there. I have been loving having wheel with such a quick worker and this many needed food techs. Not really a fan of mines super early (especially with this many good tiles), so wheel gives a very useful thing for my worker to do and the early trade will be nice.

N seems locked for city 3 likely. You can see my greedy spot sign, but I don't think the south allows me to be that bold (plus it would be awful for micro)
NW there are some really awkward tiles to actually GET to that wet corn spot. It also doesn't have shareable tiles, so probably like city 4 or city 5 just so I can support with workers.
SW you can see I'm locked out of settling until at least city #4 by my choice of skipping hunting for micro reasons, but that is fine as it a deer share crabs, so not nearly the early game power of either 2 or 3. Long term though it seems like a fairly easy pick for Maoi?
E if I have a creative neighbor that way (1/3 chance) and its not an island both those fish look to be gone from a single city site over there. Honestly even if they aren't creative I might just have to give up on the one fish as I really want to share that Oasis early.

Anyhow. Down south there appears to be a couple plains hill plants on the OTHER side of the river, but those are about 6 tiles away, so exactly half assuming. It isn't the most attractive river to fight over, but Ginger would have really good border on those hills and I would be locked out of the area. Unlike my northern borders this one appears to be LONG. I'm assuming my scout is just hanging out in this area for a while. Gingers pick I didn't fully think through before even though in it seems pretty obvious. Gandhi screams mids. Rome is a good tech civ that says "don't touch me bro". Police state praets can be used offensively or defensively as needed. All that being said an advantage I have is that his combo has nothing going on early other than good starting techs and I at least even those in beakers. If starts are at least semi mirrored I actually really would rather have wheel.

WAR!!!! and horsies

Just a scouting war to look at capital. I changed angle which is already messing with me for this picture. Anyways, hoping Ginger takes peace and pops my scout back to my side (it should). Horses popped up at Maoi city, which with stone will help that city develop fast.

Bing was nice enough to confirm that I saw scout on plains hill marked as my 3rd city meaning almost certainly neighbor directly north. I have a lot of city sites marked down south, but the most likely configuration is 3 across. 1 up by banana and dry wheat. 1 by my own dry wheat and then the 1 in the middle just because. Being org Sumeria I figure just spamming whipping post cities is ok. I'm assuming Ginger will settle south with first city to avoid a million turns moving settler and roading. Also, AH would be pretty far away for pigs with their starting techs. Fish will be nice for tech rate going forward though, but almost certainly will have to go 2 workers before 3rd city. I meanwhile with starting wheel tech am going to attempt to get away with settling 3rd city T37 with 2nd worker and 3rd worker to follow. Assuming copper cooperates. It is possible I end up doing 2nd worker into a chop whipped settler, which honestly wouldn't be the worst either.

So I haven't had a map complaint yet, which is really weird for me...... I've mentioned its smaller than my pick, but that's my fault. There were some very vocal people wanting medium size / smaller number of cities map and I kind of just ignored that for my pick...... I think my heart just wanted to build after PB62. Anyways, liking the shape and everything else so far.

BUT gotta complain about something right????

Ginger gets silver in the cross of his hill city plant and there are 0 hills I can see (there is 1 square possible 2S of horse). Anyways, up north for my Bing border not only is the gold not in the cross but Bing has hills to settle on to grab...... Its also interesting to me that Bing looks like they have a floodplain valley there which incentivizes settling that direction vs my dry wheat down south. Meaning both neighbors are likely to settle towards me early.

Anyways, once the obvious Ginger spot was known it firmed up my locations. Going to hook around with scout, but its possible there is a contested city in between the two lakes. I'll probably just keep scout around Ginger?

FYI in case it comes up I'm likely to lose power tonight in case it comes up for next turn.

I'm unsure if I should have 4 or 6 overflow hammers this turn, but 5 is probably the wrong number. It probably should just be 6 though because production good. I've worked the Oasis 2 turns (one with tech off to try to gain some misc KTB beakers on BW), but I probably only should have done one. Anyways the math is that 14*7 turns  = 98 foodhammers for a settler, so min 4 overflow was needed to go back to back 7 turn settler. Worker just finished with pigs. I'll put 1 turn of road in 1E and then road the forested hill and then SE to start improving the wet corn asap (have I mentioned I've really liked wheel as a starting tech?).

Ginger did in fact get BW so scout is going to hang out down there probably as I'm settling a wet corn first.....

T22 I wasn't going to report and I realize its probably meant as a "for fun I found my rival Mjmd war" but even so it bugs me that SD double moved me. I'm just going to assume I'm second.

He offered cease fire, but I don't trust him basically at all so asked for a peace treaty so he can't step on the pig and I can move my warrior towards second city. I technically have a minor screen going with my scout down there, but I never did scout east so still would prefer warrior be there. I maybe should just move it straight north to scout Bing though after or at least as far as the gold. Sigh SD!!! SD why does it always have to be SD!

Anyways ya changed scout plan to going west (watch I'll find Bing instead and SD will be straight north wanting that floodplain and gold with Holkans). All 3 of my contacts know BW. Interestingly Ginger and Bing know each other. Bing and SD also know each other but that is more predictable as both scouts were in the north. Ginger and Bing knowing each other means they are connected S-N somehow. Anyways, looking out for Holkan rush / people settling on copper. I realized my scout pattern with Ginger scout was probably inefficient. I prob could have gone east more and then back around. Mind then I may not have gotten capital vision. Now its just kind of stuck down there not doing much for next little bit.

I did realize that the Ginger spot marked can't share the pig, so it isn't strictly better than mine. I also hate the western middle cow spot. I would love it to be 1S or 1SW and then I could plan where cow is and not intrude on Gingers culture. As is I'll probably just not settle for. The banana wheat spot on the right is same distance for both of us but fits better with territory and is a better city so seems like a fine trade.

Why did you collect some gold? Anticipating costs of first city?

Even in my sim with no KTB bonus I finish BW the turn before 2nd settler is out, but yes at some point need to turn off tech (in sim its 5 turns at -2gpt). Made more sense to turn it off when my total beakers was lower / give chance to meet more people / people to research BW.

Weird turn.

I double played (2nd time this game? doesn't happen often early). Anyways, I was still on and Ginger got on and announced he would declare war. Now I half suspected that he was going to you can see where my warrior is in range of both foods because Ginger had both scouts in range of both improved foods. I actually thought about holding this turn originally, but I try not to do such things despite what some people think...... Anyways, Ginger just wanted to scout and didn't step on anything and offered peace. Edit: I might wait to play after him next turn since he was nice, it would let his scout get past in the east.

Oh did I mention my southern scout got greedy and was trying to find someone east and would have kept going had I known I would have 10T peace. Now I have no clue what that scout is doing now; probably looking for 2nd city? It should have been shadowing Gingers scout though prior.

Found SD to the west as suspected, but 16 tiles away. Both east and west land bridges? look pretty barren. I'm still debating how / if I'm going to make a a city for that gold. Really depends on Bing city placement. There is an obvioius spot SE of the crab, but it requires Bing to place like 2N of my trap spot (he would still get gold but I would get crab and 2 interior lake tiles as well as dye).

edit x2: Bing has been annoying with EP. Luckily the top 5 city screen shows his cap size. I almost did a sim to see how fast he could skirm rush.... he did already switch into slavery (along with SD who has whipped), but Bing is still size 4 so confident prob settle and I'm beating his time to 2nd city.
