[SPOILERS] Woden and ljubljana like boats

(January 11th, 2022, 00:21)ljubljana Wrote: Re China: How much movement do those battleships have, just 8? I think if your BS are sufficiently close to China you should be out of range. I am a bit worried he will sail destroyers up through the western passage between Mitla/Abjad and trap you against the coast. That will be a disaster if you think he has us beat in a one on one fight (and is not too bad otherwise)

Whatever we do, we should positioning our front-line ships to make you unscoutable again IMO. If he catches a glimpse of your main fleet off the Chinese coast he will probably attack and go for the trap.

Also, reminder to please send me your 4 coal so I don't take -5 on my IC again, please <3

Battleships have 8 movement. We can block the passage between Joe Aribo and Ashai, maybe have your ships bulk that area up.

For some reason, I only have 2 coal. Hoovering over the coal icon, it says I am consuming 20 and accumulating 24, no idea why I only have 2 crazyeye  I will send you those and whatever I get next turn.

So maybe something along these lines?

We should be able to block him with ZoC so he can't see the Chinese coast, just as long as we don't go far west enough that he can see you from the gap between the island and mainland. Though this may be the turn he decides to go for it and attack our scouting line now that he has his new toys...

Also, if you really can kill his oil this turn, that would not only be hilarious but it might keep him from attacking. If we are right and the resource penalty is proportional to your number of sources, being short 3 oil out of a possible 6 will HURT.

edit: Also, I forget, is the logic behind Conservation next still operational now that we lost out on the War Department? Maybe we should renew our push for Fascism now that they have a decent number of destroyers...

All he would do there is kill the destroyer and move up. I would rather have a better line nearer the main fleet. I don't think he can keep us against the coast, especially with battleships around and I doubt he would attack without battleship support.

Okay, fair enough as far as your destroyers go. I do think we should still try to block his scouting with my trash ships and maybe one of your ICs though. He probably still thinks we are further back than we are since he hasn't seen your main fleet, and no sense giving him info about our position when we don't have to. If we can keep him in the dark for a few more turns, maybe he will make a mistake and we can connive our way into a first strike...

Surprisingly not much navy by Australia...

He will most likely kill the 1-promoted IFC but then lose 3 or 4 more ships. I think if you sail closer to the Island, we can wipe them out next turn.

Sounds great to me re Australia! It is SUCH a relief to finally know where all those stupid ships are!

Another reason to consider rethinking an engagement ASAP at Phoenicia is it looks like we are going to get to pillage the hell out of their coast! They honestly might concede if they get pillaged to death and we occupy the water around their main production cities and show up with Fascism in a few turns, unless they can kill our navy in the meantime. Plus it is going to get harder and harder for them to keep recapturing my cities with your navy vaguely in the area, but in an unknown position.

edit: If we are not going to block their scouting (or are only going to block it with my trash ships), maybe we should consider keeping your ships within 2 tiles of China's coast so they are truly out of battleship range. The map I posted had the red line 10 tiles away from the BS which is in range, barely.

Also note, his destroyer only move 6.

Ouch, true! So any ships right next to the Chinese coast are in range of probably literally nothing. Very nice to know.

Here is how I think I will end up...

The destroyer in Asahi can reach 1 destroyer but that is it. The battleships and destroyers on the east side of Asahi can reach a few ships but no battleships.

He does have a few caravels down there...

But nothing in the fog to be too scared of. I think I like this set up. What are your thoughts? Most ships have movement left so I can adjust if you see something better.

Wait, are there battleships on the east side of Asahi? I am honestly having SO much trouble telling the BS and destroyer icons apart...

Setup looks good to me! Where do you want my ships? And are you cool if I fill in the ZoC gap NE of Asahi with a few IC fleets to lock them in?
