I'm not going to lie I almost said something when Pindicator signed up for this game. I love you Pin, but maybe stick to ded lurking (me please?) and CK3 update (pretty please). Counting this game Pin has quit the last 3/4 of the ones he signed up for. I reached out to DZ as I he just got off a game, but if people have ideas for anyone else that could take over? I'm half tempted to reach out to Old Harry but then I would end up losing sooooo (PB52 reference).
Anyways, so far I've been liking this map. It is a little bit smaller than what I had envisioned in my head (again I wouldn't have chosen Sumeria if I had known, but looks to be fine for now). But there were a good number of people who very specifically wanted a smaller medium sized map, so it wasn't like that information wasn't out there. I do have to say when I said min 12 tiles between I didn't mean capital was 12th tile. I mean not that one more tile would probably have stopped SD from rushing anyways .
Maya is a known rush risk, so did Pin go for early BW? Is their copper pointed at SD? Could Pin settle on like mine or was it like Gingers where he couldn't. I don't know. I do know if I had been a civ that could have / wanted early BW and Bing wasn't Mali that our coppers pointing at each other could have been really bad (in fact I should be grateful Bing didn't rush me). In general I'm not a big fan of coppers pointing at each other. In the case of Maya, it doesn't matter, but something to keep in mind.
I'm hoping Pin puts up some kind of defense to slow SD down. Thinking about it a little more I obviously want to try to reach grab 2 more cities on the land bridge towards him if he is looking weak enough after. I should get his graphs eventually to tell what his food has been like, he may have been the one at two one pop cities. BTW Bing is still putting 3 eps into me a turn. It may be in anticipation of me getting early courthouse UB, but still super annoying.
Charriu should I be able to see h ow many turns Bing has left on that mine? I can also see turns for Ginger improving Pig down south. I thought this was changed at some point?
Ginger did settle horse city, but spear is staying on the likely settle spot. Looks like he just wants to stake claim. I may even end up settling the "to be polite" spot down there if I'm making plays for land to the west. May not settle the middle filler either as its a bit aggressive. Hopefully Pin can get archery at least and hold capital.
Ah gotcha. So if you cancel the worker action it still is hidden.
Eh don't worry about it. People really should be cancelling worker actions. If I didn't want to play nicely I could steal a worker when he goes to improve those cows.
Ok, someone needs to tell Pin to just get angry and try to get SD back. This sulking around delaying the turn and asking for a replacement for a game you're getting rushed is ridiculous.
PB54 was my 1st get rushed by SD experience. I mean it looked real bad.
Then a little revenge.
I went on to be fairly strong that game and my main regret is not running SD over and focusing too much on El Grillo.
Someone please get Pin to play. I thought about it, but think it would break diplo rules.
Yeah it certainly would’ve been nice if we could’ve split SD in PB54 and prolonged the game against Miguelito, but I’m admittedly partly to blame with some of my questionable settling and tech choices that game
I do hope this game can get running again. Long delays aren’t great for anyone involved.

I don't know if you suffered through the PB62 settling discussion, but ya man that island settling in the middle was real bad. I don't know if that land was splittible (other than maybe 1 of his N cities to you), but I certainly was looking for a bit of SD revenge that game and the time of my attack vs you I don't think he could have resisted, he was really weak after I razed his city early.
Anyways, hoping Pin at least bloodies SD's nose this game.
Edit: when are we going to see an El Grillo return to playing eh?
Two people finished pottery, which means I'm currently sitting at 3 beakers short of finishing pottery. I could finish it if I don't work the wheat this turn and lose two food at capital. It mainly matters for Press Gang which will have 17 overflow hammers next turn. GAH. Ran quick micro and it delays either my 4th or 5th city by 1 turn (I can fix the capital food but then Bloody Rose is short). I've kind of been sacrificing Press Gang repeatedly as its just a worker pump and I guess that will continue. I do need to figure out when I'm mining that gold. Have a lot of tech needs and that is the only real solution I'm seeing. I keep wanting to skip hunting but keep forgetting SW city needs.
Bings power went up by 6k, which means skirmisher plus AH? I maybe overreacted and sent my scout back delaying it by 2 turns from going SW. I'll have 3 warriors in that border city and copper is finishing soon, so I'm probably just being overly paranoid.
GHAH!!!!! Pin got killed by SD. Not only is that one of my neighbors but it also means I get one less KTB on hunting!!!! At least SD traits aren't as good at taking advantage of as PB62, but still I was really hoping Pin could hold capital behind cultural defenses. I'll probably float both northern Scouts between me and SD. Bing has a rd on the cow that threatens Bloody Rose anyways so other than stuffing the city not doing much. I don't think Bing is going to try and I have copper hooked at this point.
To make myself happier, here is simple but nice little overflow chain from a scout and warrior. Needed at least 7 overflow, so got both to 14/15 and then one turn with 5 prod each. I actually didn't have to change micro at all which was nice other than to realize I needed to build a scout instead of another warrior.
Full micro through T38-T52 for people who don't glaze over (which I do in others threads).
T38 capital give up both 5f and start worker (take oasis)
T39 worker go improve cow, cap take wheat back to grow and works grassland forest for 3rd, 2nd has oasis
T40 capital whips, give wheat away but take oasis
T41 2nd starts worker, capital takes wheat
T42 2nd takes wheat and grows, capital takes pig instead for 1 turn, 3rd puts scout into queue
T43 3rd takes pig back; capital works crab; whip 2nd for 3rd worker, capital takes wheat (note not working banana as improve crab)
T44 new worker goes to rd SW
T45 warriors in capital to upgrade to spear, vulture in 2nd
T45 3rd fin warrior or scout
T46 3rd fin other; start grans cap and 2nd
T47 3rd puts 1 turn into settler working copper
2nd worker goes to chop forest on hill
T48 capital starts settler, 2nd can take wheat & Oasis and cap gets exactly 10 FH / turn, start gran in 3rd so it grows, switch off copper
T49 chop fin,
T50 whip settler at capital, worker go to banana to chop into gran; 3rd puts 2nd turn into settler at size 4; 2nd start worker
T51 3rd whips (work cow & copper), capital takes pig, other settler moves, grow 2nd,
T52 settle city 4th city (note had choice for wet corn settle either T52 if I road plains hill or T53, but in both cases won't start improving corn until T53, if wait until T53 could put 3 more turns into FP farm so chose that).
2nd whips worker, cap takes wheat, 3rd takes pig
T53 settle 5th city
At some point I have to firm up micro past. Would like if I can get away with 4th worker roading and mining gold, but last time I went through I needed the +1 food from farming banana earlier, but that was just a quick run through.
Pretty sure both Bing and Ginger have been slow building workers and settlers, so will be interesting. Bing 2nd city was at size 1 for a long time (now 2) and 3rd hasn't grown yet either. Ginger capital has been at size 3 since T20 I think. 2nd city has been at size 2 for a long time. That makes sense with its crappy food though.
