What script! Pictures!
Hyper random little game?
|
No pictures as I've had to regen maps a lot to get a couple that I like, but basically I'm doing a tiny tectonics map at 30% water. Regen for maps with somewhat minimal polar regions. Would do some minor edits to delete some* polar region to get tile count down as well as allow some more naval movement. Also, obviously check for strategic resources (have balanced resources on but still). I would then have someone instruct me how to set size to standard in worldbuilder for actual tech costs.
It produces some nice natural looking maps that also keeps everyone connected. Again, feel free to have someone else do, but that was my idea.
Tectonics is a fine script, I'd go with it. We are all on the same landmass, right? And there is no New World?
Also, what about game settings? I suggest true AI diplo, no city trading, no tech trading, no unit gifting. Anything else I am missing?

If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

And there is no New World? Yes same continent. That's actually why its at 30% water (initially). There aren't a lot of map scripts that look natural but don't do multiple continents. I tried a few fractals, but the ones that did end up on one continent just looked horrible for playing. Tectonics also ends up with a few islands usually, which I find aesthetically pleasing. I take it I'm going to set one up? Again, I'm going to do some VERY MINOR editing, mainly to get the tile count down to 120 ish. The other option I kind of liked was highlands with seas, but again that required some enlarging of seas, but its a lot less natural looking. I'll probably just take the two maps I've already saved and see if lurkers have a preference on general shape. Again, general disclaimer that it will be a mostly random map you crazies. Options below I already checked. In addition I did no barb water units.
Tectonics is an acceptable compromise if we want to go merely "somewhat imbalanced". Thanks mjmd.
