[PB64] Lurking Randomly

Rare is the map where you don't need to work cottages in order to get to the techs that make workshops good.

An important factor to remember this game is that they are playing on Monarch instead of emperor.

My take: Amica ignoring cottages and falling flat is the last hope for this game to continue being interesting past t120.

Both Commodore and Nauf have a lot of land to expand into. Commodore with colossus and Nauf with all the late game traits I think will make this game interesting going long. They both have just had slower starts.

In the short term I think its going to be interesting how Gingers invasion goes and if SD then decides to expand SE through those Gav cities, which would also put SD next to Amica.

Maybe in 5 turns. Maybe in 20. I imagine Naufragar is counting on my pacifistic tendency. But with that city, he's dreamin'. bash

Love to see someone absolutely miss read a situation leading to war. As a reminder that city is 6 tiles from Nauf's capital.

Curious if Ginger will go north now. Commodore has been VERY slow to develop.

I don't think I've mentioned but I HATE Bridhe. He could have settled for new food in the crab to the east just as easily. At least Sad city has iron and can build a quick monument and granary and allows his UU. This is a very sad looking empire for near T00.

Edit: I've been rooting for Commodore but one of the ways this game could go is that Commodore or SD just get eaten while Amica and Nauf fight it out.

So generally loaning gold to a game leader is kind of a no no and you definitely sense the SD is checked out. That being said 38% interest is pretty good rate. Like if you are going to loan a game leader gold make them pay through the nose for it, which I think that qualifies as in my opinion.

Ginger is going to crush through Commodore I think. Look at the empire above, there is no whip potential there. With a stack of slow movers without cats I normally wouldn't expect much, but um yaaaaaaa. I wonder if Nauf will snipe the gem city once he sees the war dec and Ginger taking the first city. BTW I still don't understand building Gaelic swordsman to counter crossbows. Shouldn't he just have been mass building archers? I think that would have been good enough until Ginger got cats at least.

I also want to throw out how funny it is Nauf keeps complaining about Amica's food number not knowing Amica is building all farms. On monarch with only 6 players it might just be effective though.

I also do want to point out how much different this game is if Ginger just snags the easy GLH he could have had from popping that early hut. I do still think there is a chance if he goes through Commodore fast enough. He can then focus east vs Gav and team up with SD. Assuming Nauf doesn't get rolled by Amica, which Nauf usually puts up a good enough defense.

I also think SD could actually still have a shot if he didn't get instantly demoralized in games. Vicky is a GREAT comeback leader (trust me I know). If Ginger goes through Commodore and SD builds A galley, imperialistic SD could snag all that yummy island territory or at least the eastern half. Also, hasn't even settled his own territory fully, so could end up with a big empire.... if he cared.

I would have done that deal too if I were SD. Not only for the very good gold rate, but also because it basically means 10 turns of peace.

Other then that I notice a strong sense of giving up too early accross the board. Maybe we should start limiting PBs to 50 turns. neenerneener

Ya if I was Nauf I would be going for construction instead of Calendar..... Vultures backed up by cats will do just fine. Mind you if he thinks Amica is going for MoM and wants to beat, that is also valid. As long as he doesn't start teching until he knows what Amica teched, he might be fine either way. He might need to build a 2nd galley for war transportation needs mind you lol.

With the no cottages strategy, Amica should really hurry up to get machinery and monarchy. Instead, MC is now item 4 on their wishlist, instead shooting for cats and phants. I feel like the naufragar war is just a sure way to go bankrupt, independent from how the actual fighting turns out?
