Dance around the lake or just slog NE through the rough terrain?
I'm leaning NE next turn; don't want to go too far afield

Borders pop and we have a lot of water to the south.
That's all coastline showing in the fog. I suppose the first warrior out could scout that before the settler finishes; there are 10 turns between the first warrior finishing and the settler finishing, so that's enough time to see if there are any great seafood spots for a city #2.
Demos show not everybody working a 3f1h tile

Hey Hitru, how do you feel about covering for a week in July? I've got a backpacking trip from July 23-29 and won't be able to log in.

I think we found city #3's location.
I think NE next turn instead of SE, and then SE after

Not sure if I should uncover that 1 fogged tile or just skip it by. I'm not sure if anything could be uncovered there that would be better than the corn/deer spot for city #2.
Perhaps I can uncover it by having the scout end up on the hill 2E of it. Regardless, next turn we will move E-SE.
Worker finishes end of turn.

A possible contender for 2nd city emerges:
Putting city #2 on the plains hill 4N of the capital will make the hill pigs first ring and share the sheep with the capital. It could open up a plan of going AH after Wheel finishes; AH will finish t24. The worker would not improve the sheep after finishing its camps but instead will build roads up to the 2nd city, building roads NW of the capital (turns 23-24), on the sheep (25-26), and 3N of the capital (27-28). The settler finishes end of t25 and spends 26 & 27 moving then settles on t28 after the worker finishes its final road.
Disadvantages are that we have to add another tech requirement to the start, and that the pigs & sheep are not as strong as the wet corn and forest deer. Advantages are that the 2nd city is connected immediately upon being settled (the corn + deer location also settles t28 but doesn't get connected until t30) and that we are chaining towards the silver location.
Ultimately I'm leaning Corn/Deer but it is very close.

Initially I prefer wet corn + deer due to tech being easier. We can plant 3rd, 4th and 5th city fast on pigs, copper and silver/sheep/rice fast after that.

Oh look, it's the guy who's always my neighbor now. I miss when that was Commodore.
He comes right in time to rob us of an overflow beaker.
With the deer camped, we're #1 in food for a short time. Funny thing about this start is that it didn't matter which deer you improved first; both would get you 25 food and 21 hammers over 7 turns.
