And we are finally actually off !
Look at that land area. Does no one have a sea start? Note to check back in 5 turns.
Scouting pretty sure I go 1N then down. Cap borders will check most else that a city on that lake could get.

I'm a sucker for exploration even though I try to be logical so I went up to the sea (it was only 1 tile away....) and discovered an insane city. However, puzzle time. Uber insane city first, but that requires border pop, lots of worker labor and literally every basic tech or city with trade route first (I did check) but 1 worker has to go far away. The nice thing about the eastern city is it can 1 pop whip like 2 workers in a row and not care. One other option is just not to connect the norther city with 2 roads and just research AH and fishing first, but being protective that seems wrong?
BTW just for Ginger / other fyi I am going to point out every time creative does something (also for my own benefit). That northern city creative is going to extremely accelerate everything.
I'm tired and didn't fog gaze ahead of my scout after seeing wheat and sheep. So now I'm stuck in 1 move purgatory. Is this highlands with water around it? If so, I LOVE IT.
If you can read my notes I'm pretty sure I'm making my capital a production city and giving away a lot of cottage tiles to other cities. Farm all those plains river tiles and 1 grassland.

I've been getting the vibe of center point from the mountains and hills to my east as natural barriers, but now maybe I've maybe found a center point "fight" spot? Almost no green but 5 resources. Although honestly as long as neighbor doesn't settle S of the stone (or obviously, on stone or on my spot), there is still an option for wheat, stone, & cow and I'm valuing the stone pretty highly for MY Hanging Gardens. Obviously I WANT the gold, but there may be better spots to fight fully over that aren't all plains.....

I've been busy with other things and I'm not the hugest fan of constant scout reports. Discovered maybe 2 more mid point areas and also discovered Bing this turn. Maybe a farther away western neighbor? Glad I did micro for this game before I started PB66 map creation that is for sure. I have macro through T26? Whenever I need to decide which forests to chop. I know I'm chopping SE of the N deer, but after that depends on where I'm settling and that is going to require A LOT more micro and thought than I have time for atm.

#*@!
I was really hoping copper would be to the east. I avoided NW area for scouting efficiency and am getting burned in the worst way possible. Everything west and south in black should pretty much be revealed in 3 turns when capital borders popped, but not that way. I guess assuming Pin's copper isn't pointed at me or anyone elses near it maybe can be delayed for a bit...... Am I going to pull a PB62 and tech archery and delay copper..... maybe. Pro archers aren't skirmishers, but they will hold a hill city just fine.
I didn't mean to meet Pin, but my mind was full of PB66 map thoughts and I didn't fog gaze so didn't see the hill (I'm bad at seeing anything that isn't a mountain to be fair so probably didn't matter). I meant to skim past him or I would have gone on the forested hill. Ah well. In the only good news is that the area to his NW looks better than our contested area to the NE. In bad news, that area looks better than my area to the SE. Good news the dry corn between Bing and I is 1 tile closer to me /shrug.

This is why mapmakers need to unionize and demand hazard pay.

Lol
I realized I could settle 1N of the plains deer. The connecting via trade route would be horrible though and I wouldn't have any idea if I was screwing over a potential future city. I thought about settling on the cow, but that is just a waste of a resource and the 3f lake later.
I do need to do micro before I leave. I've been waiting on 3rd ring border pop (plus again whole map making thing).
Anyone want to follow hectically assembled micro while I'm gone.

Magic thanks for the offer, but it sounds like we will be staying around this weekend. I'll let you know if that changes.
Instead of map making tonight I now got to do micro, which might be totally pointless because border pops haven't happened yet because SaC is awol.
All I know for sure is settling the northern city first seems super awkward. I can do it with trade routes, but there just isn't anything for a worker to do up there without AH being done. Also, the eastern city can produce a worker pretty early to help with other expansion, which I like. Also, actual city timing ends up being the same. First city is settled T32 and 2nd is settled T39. Most of my time was spent in the weeds for what to do after as it gets a little awkward. Probably should have just waited for border pops and saved myself the time.

What’s your long term plan for this game? Any wonders or tech gambits? Or just good fundamentals of land claiming until late-classical + opportunism?
I ask because this question because you have an early game leader and those usually make me nervous playing as the beat-down
