[PB65 Mjmd] Off to Sea Once More

And this is why you scout every coast tile. Clam isn't as good as fish but I could settle ON copper. This would grab the cow and allow me to share a food resource with capital. It would be a T40 settle vs T39 for the fish site, but that seems fine.  I could also settle 1N where you probably are supposed to settle, but that misses cow and sharing food with capital.

Both early religions have now been founded. Super early in my opinion. Is Bing going to settle a 2nd city soon? or is he emulating JesseL from PB61?

Horse is at the more powerful spot. That being said..... I did more micro work last night and settling on the copper makes it all a lot easier (who knew saving 6 turns of worker micro makes things easier lol   ). I also do get 2 movers at copper. Pin finally switched into slavery T35 I think, but Cornflakes still isn't, so I would assume chariots at best. He has two warriors in that plains middle area.  He is also closer than I thought. Only 11 tiles I think. He could try to pop my scout this next turn. 30% to lose a warrior is kind of bad this early though, so we will see. I had thought one of those grassland hills was flatland when I moved onto his warrior /shrug.

Yes more Sean. Deal with it.

Another city made possible by creative. Obviously long term I'm giving up a bit by not working copper, but in short term I get a plains cow, share deer, and an extra forest AND importantly 6 worker turns.

SaC is my eastern neighbor. Now this puts my in a bit of a bind. I had already stated I'm in the worst spot, but even if Cornflakes has a better contested spot (which I'm checking for), he might figure his best expansion path is through SaC therefore settle our contested spot first. I'm planning on settling the Pin front first for two reasons. 1) He has a faster leader so more likely.  2) Once its settled there aren't any good spots for him. I'm honestly not sure which is more dangerous going long, but Cornflakes is more dangerous I think*. Also If Pin attacks Bing I can interfere / vulture a lot easier with / against SaC. Even with all that I 'm still more apt to settle the safe spot if I beat Cornflakes.

How to tell when someone is obviously about to settle a contested spot lesson one:

Honestly I don't blame him. My scout found a metal on the other side, but that area kind of stinks. Sent my scout down to see WHERE he settles.

Kind of works for me too. I'm going to be settling Pin border in this time frame.  Again, Pin has an even better area to settle, so don't expect trouble, but my micro already has an impi getting chopped out to protect over there just in case (and overflow will go into another settle so not really a waste).

Judging from the tone, sounds like you accepted the peace and are inclined to let CF settle? What spots would you consider "biting off the whole hand"?
Who do you have graphs on so far? More thoughts on how the politics will develop?

I did accept the peace. I have 1 warrior atm and am going to be settling a contested spot the other way. The absolute we will have stable border would be to settle the gold and deer as 2nd ring. BUT as he has my graphs but still felt the need to war peace me I somehow doubt that one. My best guess / maybe a spot I would allow is SE of the gold. If he settles 1S of stone (I'm assuming it will be on a hill)........ I'm curious if he lucked out in settling copper for 2nd city mischief .

Edit: slightly tipsy. More developments on how politics will develop once I know more.

Edit edit: I only have graphs on Pin. Soon ish will be Cornflakes.

Cornflakes switched to slavery so assuming settler is on its way. SaC is not pulling a JesseL and is at 3 cities, so maybe not as easy of meat as name might imply (which is good for me probably). Pin is also at 3 and I don't see culture so I should be set for my spot.

Yum math. I could whip next turn to start the whip timer, but I think just waiting a turn (grow on Impi) makes more sense. Is it sad the main thing making me want to not wait is that then then next settler ends up at perfect 100/100? shakehead

A bowline knot is incredible strong, the rope will break before the knot. This city is designed to tie down the entire Pin front.

HOWEVER, the real news is on Cornflakes front. He has a settler on THE bad spot. I'm pretty sure I would have lost the race for my safe spot by 1 turn even if I had gone that way. I haven't actually ended my turn yet. I need to do some thinking (and some micro work as my micro for a settler no longer works). One of the northern workers looks like it just finished a chop. Down south I discovered his 3rd city. The question is is copper currently in the 1st ring or is i t second ring. He orphaned a fish for the city. I can't imagine he settled on copper (because then horse and copper would have been super close), but maybe along the river? Basically I'm wondering if he access to axes. I think I have to assume he does. There is no way he settles something like that without access to axes. Unless he just assumes I won't contest. Which isn't totally crazy I guess. I wonder if he was scouting for me roading that way? That makes sense.

This is last version I have slated, but I could probably find more.....

Switched to crab in north for some nice future micro. Thinking about putting a farm in between capital and Hundred Years.

What is that, my beautiful 3 turn settler micro was disrupted?

hammer hammer hammer

While I disrupted my expansion micro a little (T55 settler vs T52 and I won't have whipped a gran in capital), I haven't gone ALL out, which I'm somewhat unsure about. Hundred Years could whip an impi next turn if I worked two plains forests this turn (ie not work a 7yield wheat). It would arrive same turn as the axe as long as I'm also willing to spend multiple worker turns. But if he has two axes, the extra impi doesn't matter. If he gets an axe and a spear it could* matter, but I probably wouldn't take that shot either. Therefore, just trying to get Hundred Years online. I figure this will either work or at least force some awkward upgrades / whips. He has to have a axe ready to be whipped THIS turn in his southern city (or one on the way). Or have upgrade gold for his warrior.

So yes partly this war is "I want the stone (and the gold cause at this point I'm already antagonizing)", but also Myst / wheel start tied me to 4 cities. And I'm a little scared of Cornflakes going long, so taking down a notch while making myself stronger (if it works) seems good. If it doesn't work, I didn't slow myself down that much.

I am mad I didn't finish pottery for turn 51. I should be putting a random turn into cottage, but I thought I should bank upgrade gold and then realized it would come too late to matter.

I'm still debating what I want to do with workers, but I have current plans noted.

I see 1 axe worth of power I think* (this is where I loved Mig in PB54 lol). So I'll assume I need my 1 axe to get good damage in. Now I think he would be fine IF his worker had been moved to forest south of his city as he chops T51, 52, &53 and I don't attack with my axe until T54 . However, that forest is vulnerable to Impi's!!! Zulu underrated yo. Now he may still have enough. Might have upgrade gold, might have another unit. I maybe should have whipped that extra impi to hit his warriors with in case they go above axe as top defender......  Opps smoke Ah well, looks like I forced one whip and force some awkward worker micro. Confirms copper was probably 1st ring and not second ring of that southern city.
