Keeping up with where we’re at in the turn order on this first sequential turn:
1. SD Darius of Byzantium 2. Pindicator Charlemagne of America
3. Mjmd Gilgamesh of Zulu … UP!
4. Bing Wang Kon of Inca … ON DECK!
5. Sucks at Civ Mehmed of India
6. Cornflakes Pericles of Arabia
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

You could also set up PBSpy to alert you after Mjmd has played.
Yes everyone (including me after I type this) I recommend going to pbpsy and doing changing the notification to person who plays before you. I have email set up to my phone so its super easy to see / know. That being said, again I only expect 1 turn a day.
Problem is I use that email for other stuff (inluding other PBEM games) so I would be getting pinged all the time by it for all kinds of other crap (that I also don't want to ubsubscribe from)
But i have done so, I do check it sometimes, plus I can check pbspy and see how many players away I am
I mean I play in a pretty consistent time slot (barring falling asleep with my children), so I should* be pretty predictable.
edit: you could also create a new email account (for instance I have 1 for only important stuff, 1 for middle stuff, and 1 for giving out for junk purposes).
To work around the the abundance of notification I created a dummy gmail account for anything important that I want to get instant notifications on. Then forward only what I want from the main email account to the dummy notification account. Then I have that email account set up on a separate email app with notifications enabled.
I think with the gmail app you can customize notifications for specific labels but I only found out about that after implementing my current workaround ... and as they say, if [the current method] ain't broken don't fix it
