[PB64] Lurking Randomly

I'm excited. This border is bound to blow  up somehow lol.

It's such a blatant poison pill for Gav, I'm surprised he took it.

(I also think it shouldn't have been allowed. 1 city means 1 city, not 1 city with exceptions.)

I enjoy watching the progress of border cities like Software Man that bounce from empire to empire to empire. Barbarian Leader to naufragar to Amicalola to Gavagai. For a six-player games, that is good. I think naufragar and Amicalola are both too strong to allow it to bounce to anyone new, sadly.

I was hoping Commodore would get this / contest. And he may still. He was building gobs of military. If he decides to be peaceful with Ginger there isn't anything preventing him from taking these.

Bulbing CoL and then building 120h courthouses while two people want to kill you doesn't seem like a good plan Amica, but I've been wrong before.  Amica may want to save 1 person GA for serfdom, but I think just firing it off for the extra production might be in line here (and I believe would easily be able to just tech to CoL if really wanted to).

Guess we can add Commodore to the pile of 'people who want to attack Amica.'

The inverted views that Amicalola and naufragar have of each other is funny. "That other guy is such a runaway! The other players are blissfully and foolishly ignoring him! DOOM!" I think naufragar's view is closer to correct, though. Why would Gavagai give the person he is planning to attack open borders?

Amica's plan of gifting that southern city to gav for peace is a good one. I also wonder about the open borders.

Amica is understandably upset, but also should understand having the most cities and in a GA doesn't necessarily make you seem like a victim and not everyone sees a game the same way. Its very possible Gav just sees this as a balance of power move. Or a move to put Amica on a more even footing with Nauf. Or may think Amica harbors a grudge and would just come back later. There are actually a ton of possible reasons Gav could see to do this war. I'm not saying he is right, but I don't think its unreasonable and certainly don't think its king making.

In some ways I 'm reminded of European balance of power struggles. Amica is Russia (or maybe Austria Hungary), Nauf is France, Gav is Prussia. To continue the analogy I guess Commodore is sickly Spain, Ginger is Sweden, and SD is the Danes? Or one of the smaller nations we just always forget existed.

Exactly. And the city razing isn't as unreasonable as Amica is making it out to be either, between maintenance costs and the giant middle finger it would be to Nauf to hold onto a city so close to his core (and massed army), it's not exactly a valuable city. If Gav was truly playing kingmaker he could have taken the city and left it defenceless for Nauf to claim (and let alone taking that last peacedeal). This way he signals peace to his other biggest neighbour while he prosecutes further hammer against Amica.

While I can understand being the target of a dogpile has him feeling negative, Amica's lack of scouting information on Nauf has led to some pretty blatant geopolitical misreads on his part.
