T190
Naufragar is plowing on towards Astronomy, which he will get in 3 turns. Our peace expires in 5. I think it's safe to assume we get demolished by galleons at that point. We have to decide whether to belatedly get Astronomy/Paper/CS after Naufragar (I'm going as fast as I can, he just started very far ahead), or prioritise something else like nationalism to ensure some mutual destruction. Neither option is very good. contemplate I suspect the Sumerians are going to deal the decisive blow in 6 turns or so, unless I can figure out something crazy. I made a mistake offering peace when I did; I should have waited a few turns to buy myself more time. The timing of this works out basically perfectly for Nauf. The silver lining is he's gone via the Theology route, meaning no maces. Is it funny or sad that I'm happy about 'no maces' on T190? crazyeye

I had been assuming the reload was a Gavagai thing, but now with the turn roll thing I wonder if this is something to do with me?

If ginger is right and this is about one of the cities I settled this turn (which seems likely) then I am afraid the game will have to be held up longer whiile things are explained to me.

So I think maybe I can finally persuade people this rule isn't great, but it boils down to this one again:

Quote:In a peace-time turn split (eg a settling or hut-popping race) the turn you realize there should be a split is when the order is established.

So for instance when you settled fevered dreams and asked if that was ok , I wrote in lurker thread:

Quote:Amica wouldn't have known about Naufs settler until the double move occurred. Therefore I think its fine by our current rules (which I've noted I hate but meh not the time).

Who double moved who when didn't matter, because under the current rule the turn the split is established when the situation is realized. You realized it on the double move turn and therefore it was fine. I'll note noticing on the exact turn is going to cause us troubles trying  to fix this rule in general, but I digress.

In the current scenario here was my argument in the lurker thread.

Quote:With the two workers there I think it was pretty clear Nauf was going for the spot and therefore Amica should have realized. Now Amica may not have (didn't see or do a lot of thinking about ect), but I think rules should be applied consistently. While I would trust whatever Amica's explanation would be as to how they missed, I think a reasonable consistent approach should be taken to avoid favoritism and ruling different cases depending on how much you trust the person.

IE the turn before the roll was when you realized (or should have for fairness purposes) realized there was a settler race. By our current rules that instance is when the turn order is established and you therefore shouldn't have double played.

Hope that helps. I'm going to mention in the lurker thread, but I suggest maybe we bring this up in a week in the etiquette thread when some time has passed.

Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about. I am supposed to have clairvoyanced a settler race? From what? Naufragar certainly hasn't told me about one.  I am going to write a longer post but this doesn't make any sense
