In other news, Ruby Tuesday will likely pop boarders in 10 turns .
It's currently showing 2/turn and 14 turns, but they are fixing to spread a religion there. I asked them to hold off 4 turns if possible.
Our city of Thundara won't expand boarders for eight turns building culture at 1hpt... I can get a missionary in there on T141 OR into Savannah, as it's founded on T141. I believe we can get a missionary in the other city on T142.
At Savannah, we can have a plains hill mine (borrowed from Kilrah) ready for use on T142, so, I'm thinking we send the first missionary to Thundara. The culture situation would look like this:
T137: Thundara 2/10
T138: Thundara 3/10
T139: Thundara 4/10
T140: Thundara 5/10
T141: Thundara 6/10 (Gets Missionary) Savannah 0/10
T142: Thundara 8/10; Savannah (Worked Plains Forest, Gets Missionary) 3/10
T143: Thundara 10/10; Savannah (Worked Plains hill Mine) 9/10 and can work whatever tile we need on T144 to pop boarders.
This leaves us very little margin for error in either city, but in Savannah, it has forests and can chop a grainery and theater, and a forge and probably be ok. Thundara... We might lose some first ring tiles temporarily. Not sure how this works.

OK, looks like we got more problems. Look at this, the [strike]lying scumbags[/strike] Phillistines.
I can't see anywhere that settler could be going other than to steal the spot we were promissed. I sent them a really nasty letter about this. I'm willing to declare war over this.
Quote:Dude, where are you going with that settler?

It looks like he's headed to a spot that we agreed was ours. We agreed months ago that we could have a city over by the Marble, and we're planning on settling one there in like 10 turns. First you settled the gems city in a spot that would cause major overlap with the site you'd agreed we could have. OK, so we moved the city so that we would not have overlap. Now it appears you're planning to settle another city over there at a location that will make any city for us impossible. If that's the case, I'm going to be majorly pissed off.

Quote:That one is easy. We get the tile, but I "canceled it out" of the calculations, because the other site has a river plains tile (look straight down a few tiles where I canceled that one out too)
Ah - that explains it. Good. Now:
1) Are you sure it would make Byz angry to plant the city on the jungle, even though that it would never claim any of the shared-BFC tiles except the peak?
2) This raises the real point: I think the true choice is a diplomatic one. Assuming Byz would be happy with us planting either of the cities you describe, I recommend the following:
IF we expect to be seriously close friends with Byz all the way to the end of the game, explain that the new (culture war) situation will prevent us claiming both the one fp they agreed we could use AND those bananas, and ask if they'll therefore permagift us the bananas when their third-ring culture claims them. If they will, plant the originally-planned city.
IF we expect Byz to attack us at some point, plant the city on the hill. It can still be one-moved by fast-movers from Byz territory, but that's true of any option other than "win the culture war anyway."
[EDIT: Uh. Crosspost.]

I'll raze that city, I don't care if it costs us the game. I'm not going to tolerate [strike]scumbagery[/strike] their massivley inconsistant with our understanding of what we agreed to like that.
Unfortunately, he's gone to bed now, so I can't yell at him in person. If they settle that city, in my book, that's a declaration of war.

[strike]Scumbagery[/strike] Their intent to settle there makes me angry. [strike]Settling that site that was promised to us is about as low as you can get[/strike]. I'll not take this lying down.
I've already sent an email to Kyan asking if he can assist us in our righteous crusade if they don't honor their agreement.

I'd like to say more, and have lots of comments on other stuff in the past couple pages, but I have to go. (Can't be on again until sometime later this week; not sure when.) I might be able to log in (much) later tonight, but I doubt it, and chat is impossible right now.
You can recognize scumminess and do something about it without being angry in real life. Think calm thoughts. Then when you can look at it as something fun to do in a game, start planning for what to do in response. That's my best suggestion. G'night!

I sent that to his personal email. I think I should forward a copy to their team email, and I propose to add this at the end.

PS: Let me make this clear. If we don't get the city over there we were prommised, thats practically a declaration of war. You guys have been good friends for a long time. We've stood up for you. We've refused to be other people's bitches and attack you even when it was possible to 4 on 1 you guys. We refused to settle cities right up in your face like other civs pleaded with us to do, because you were our friends, and we had a landsplit agreement...
It will be fascinating to see his reply, as he had a similar situation with India over Noveria where he was the one getting poached (and reacted much the same as we have)
Unfortunately, he's liable to be bored enough with the game to just tell us to go to hell.
