Discord... like make a separate server and have a channel for each potential conversation (me and Mjmd, Mjmd and Charriu, Charriu and i, ect) that everyone else except the other players have access to? That way lurkers can click a link and see the server and browse the various conversations?
OR just simply, discord pm'ing.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

HOWEVER, I do volunteer to assist the mapmaker, whoever they may be, in whatever way they want to be assisted. Checking for strategic and luxury resource balance? Equalizing the starting capitals? Making sure the leaders and civs and techs are correct? Combing the map for unintended unnatural features? Something else? Sure, I can help.

Something landy to enable lots of diplo on borders / having lots of borders. Ironically something like PB65 would be pretty good, but maybe a bit bigger. I know PB65 was a lot of tiles, but due to lack of water is actually kind of a medium map, so maybe 10% more spread out due to being a diplo game?
If you are feeling lazy a filled in donut with some added in lakes would probably also work. Allowing more players direct contact, rather than basically putting everyone into blocks based on where they started, should result in more diplo/fun. Last diplo game there was no reason for me to be in conflict with half of the players because i shared no border with them till... well, the end.

Yeah, I think some kind of toroidal where everyone is bordering everyone but maybe with some funky geography interfering?
Also, I'd argue for like 13-14 tiles distance for breathing room but not boring room. Donut but the water is swiss-cheesed with islands and the land with lakes sounds good actually
Finding a way to peace
The bad thing about donut is you still have just 2 main neighbors. I just suggested it as a lazy option. PB65 map ish less some mountains and with like few more tiles in between diagonals you would end up with 4 neighbors.
But as normal, whatever map maker wants to make.
I think the most important thing is that the map is not too tight. Give diplomacy some room to develop. I personally would like to have a map without clearly defined player areas. So not like PB59 and I would say PB65 falls into that category albeit less than 59

Basically either a filled in donut style map, or roll a random Pangaea/terra map and fix it imo.
