I think the global track record of welcoming immigrants is pretty poor, even in Europe. Look at the price Merkel paid for welcoming Syrian refuges. Politics trumps money, and blaming immigrants for problems is good politics, unfortunately.
It’s also not an immediate boost to the economy, there is work to do to integrate them in and prepare them for life in their new home. You get situations where they culturally don’t fit, e.g. the fight over wearing the hijab in secular France, or where they aren’t putting down roots, but waiting for conditions to improve at home…for example the Katrina refuges in Houston (doesn’t have to be across national borders).

Blaming "others" for problems has always been good politics. I just wish with vast access to history people stopped falling for it.... but then we wouldn't be human now would we.

With just six weeks away, it seems that search engine trends are shifting to issues that favor Republicans.

In good news even though it passed with only 9 ....... Republican votes in the house it looks like some improvement to safety of our democracy may actually get passed.

Mitch McConnell doing literally anything is always worth calling out. Do I think he has multiple reasons for doing so, of course, but I'll take what I can get.

You realize that "preventing Jan 6th" by these means is isomorphic to "federally enshrine cheating once it happens at the state level", right?

You know if you could prove cheating there are laws and remedies for that as well right? ....... Good thing Republicans had plenty of evidence of fraud and presented it in public and in court. Oh wait? Your telling me they challenged election laws in court but in public screamed about fraud with no proof? Your saying they tried pressuring legislatures and even got hearings in front of legislatures controlled by their own party, but had nothing to back themselves up time and time again so that went no where? Huh I guess it sounds like they had no justification and just wanted to overthrow our democracy, minor thing you know.
If you want to actual read the law:

Don't worry it sounds like it still leaves open the possibility of the state overturning individual elections. You can still attempt a coup, but this is just making sure the VP can't solo do it. Still the more individuals and states required is a form of control in a process.
Edit: just clarifying that the VP COULDN'T do it before, but you know better to be super clear on the safety of democracy so again I'll take what I can get.

It's hilarious to see how the response to stuff like that is always "cheating wasn't proven." It's never "cheating didn't happen."
As I asked a couple pages ago and you never answered, if Democrats really believe Trump is so horrible, wouldn't they do anything they possibly could to keep him out of office?

Cant prove a negative. "Prove god isnt real!" "Prove we arent the only planet with life!" "Prove the democrats/republicans didnt cheat!"
If X party thought X person was so horrible, they would use their typical propaganda machine to make that person out to be worse than they actually are. Most of the time big companies/names try and avoid breaking the law, because that gives the other side a better argument.
Thought experiment: If the democrats were going to cheat an election. Wouldnt you think they would do it to get Hillary elected over Biden? Think about the press they would receive as being the party that brought the first black, and first woman president! On the flip side, If the republicans thought that Trump was the only one that could save the US from certain doom, wouldnt they do anything the possibly could do keep him in office, upto and including cheating the election?
Man, its fun being an independent.

Didn't we point out the logical fallacy? Sure it MIGHT have happened. Does it mean it did happen. NOPE. We KNOW Republicans tried to overturn an election. There is a difference!
Lets carry your logic the opposite way. What is to say Republicans didn't cheat more? Lets just have each party accuse the other of cheating without proof. Lets have each party baselessly try to grab power each election not via voting. Obviously Republicans are always right and never lie so why not install them as sole leaders of America forever? I'm sure you don't see any problems with any this, but maybe its obvious enough.
Edit: lol SD and I posted at same time.

There is no point in proving something to someone whose beliefs are based on fiction to begin with.
