I tested this a couple of different ways, in both 3.0.0 and 3.0.1, and it appears that the new circumnav effect doesn't work:  Even at very high water percentages, no message appears upon circumnavigating the globe, either with or without Optics, and Harbors continue to provide +50% trade rather than +100%.  Their mouseover text indicates that they will get the bonus with circumnav, but the latter seems impossible to achieve.

FYI: RefSteel found a bug concerning the new circumnavigation bonus with harbors. I was able to reproduce and fix that bug. This of course means that this PB needs an update at some point before people want to enjoy the circumnavigation bonus.

In the past people were surprised about a sudden mod update, so just a reminder that this PB needs an update at some point.

It’s bad here. It’s really bad. I have seen dozens of natural disasters on TV in the past. I have been in the eye of a couple hurricanes. I have known about neighborhoods within a moderate distance that got flooded in the past. And I am ashamed to admit at those times I looked more with a sort of fascination at the people who were hit hard, who had their entire possessions piled at the curb. But seeing the destruction first hand … it’s just … real. And knowing that there are many areas that are much much worse, where they don’t even have homes standing, or who lost people they love ... At least for us the structures are sound and we can fight the race against the mold and save the homes. At least for us things can be normal again in a couple months.

I was spared the worst and although my roof needs repaired I personally was not flooded. But my parents were and dozens of coworkers and friends, and all of their neighbors, and thousands in the region. I have been working as long as daylight and energy allows to strip drywall and insulation off the walls to dry out homes before the mold takes over. I have barely even paused to watch some drone video of the devastation at the coasts and it’s doesn’t look real. It still hasn't fully sunk in. Like, is this video from New Orleans 15 years ago (hurricane Katrina)? The Japanese tsunami? … no, I've been there. I know these places, … or at least I used to.

I am far enough away that I am not yet aware of anyone I know personally who died, but I do know people who lost neighbors and I have heard of many narrow escapes. I have a close friend (who evacuated in advance) who's neighbors drowned, and his other 70+ year old neighbor survived with 7 ft of water in his home by standing on a bar stool in chest deep water for 5 hours until the water receded enough to sit down. Think about that for a moment. Water up to the door frames, above the windows. Not knowing if it will continue rising. Not knowing how long until it will go down. Wind whistling at 100 mph outside. Scary scary stuff. I mean whole cities on the barrier islands are gone, literally destroyed, and dozens of neighborhoods in proximity to the coast or creeks or canals were flooded.

There are a lot of good stories too though. People who waded out into waist deep water in 100 mph winds to help elderly and disabled neighbors reach safety in a nearby 2-story house. People who were spared, now inviting their neighbors to live with them until they get back on their feet. People sharing what little they have with those who have less. People working together to save what remains. People giving up their paid vacation time to come and help with disaster relief. It's just overwhelming to think about the number of people who need help, and the enormous effort it will take to get back to normal.

What charities would you recommend for those of us far away? Who on the ground actually does the most good?

My recommendation is Florida Baptist Disaster Relief https://flbaptist.org/dr-give/ I joined after they staged at our church in response to a previous hurricane that hit us a few years ago. This is the Florida branch of the Southern Baptist disaster relief network. It is very well organized with trained response teams, operating under regional command structures, with a state-wide logistics and administration team. Teams are trained in specific response competencies ranging from food prep, roof tarp installation, flood damage remediation, tree removal, etc. and are only allowed to respond according to their training. We coordinate directly with state and county governmental emergency management services. We have cooked over 35,000 hot meals already. Much of the hot food distribution by the Red Cross is actually prepared in Baptist Disaster Relief mobile kitchens.

The Red Cross would be another organization that I recommend and that we coordinate with. They operate shelters, distribute clothing and food, etc.

For longer-term recovery the best that I am aware of is Habitat for Humanity. They assist in repair and rebuilding of damaged homes, as well as new construction of affordable housing. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_bu...K587NC6QTS They operate very efficiently

start of the new PB looks like a good time to update the mod.
I've prepared the update yesterday and suggest to update this weekend. So please be prepared and take a look into this thread in the next days.

The new version will be linked on PBSpy and the ingame updater provides the update, too.
