[SPOILERS] Banzailizard and Woden go hunting!

OK, I will produce a gally in leeds next. The question for me then comes down to policy cards. If I could I would swap to classical republic for the amenities, but I don't think I can afford to loose the cobat strength right now. That suggests my card should be maratime industry, conscription, urban planning, and ilkum (for whenever I do want to build new builders). Or I can run a trade card in that last slot. I'll have to see what my settler in leeds is looking like for production. If I need to I will burn a turn on something before finishing military tradition so I don't have to swap out of colonization early.

England Turn 57

Ok I did not get lucky so Zanzibar stands for another turn.  I can grab it next turn though for sure.  Also I upgraded the archer, completing the quest for Taruga, and put in Diplomatic League, as well as another envoy.  Still not Suzerain though?  Maybe it will kick in next turn. I also swapped in conscription to bring my gold per turn up to 15, which is quite nice.

Speaking of era points, I found Krill in the north, so at least we know where they are roughly.  There was a longship up by him, so I retreated back away into the fog. That means I am at 20/25 points, and I should get the rest of the points I need for a golden age soon.

Looks like Krill is going all in on infrastructure while Thrawn goes all in on military.  Not a bad plan all things considered.

   

On the home front, a new picture since the last one had pins in the way. Campus done in 2 turn, settler will also be done in 2 turns, I can safely switch out of colonization in 2 turns as well.  That means I will be running:

conscription;
maritime industries;
urban planning (to help the new cities)
ilkum (to build builders at the new cities after the RND are done)

The only other card that I might have wanted to swap out for Ilkum was Caravansaries, 2 gold vs maybe some reduced builder costs? Honestly feels about the same for me right now. I set my policy research to games and rec, working towards military training.  I think Veterancy will be helpful in getting lighthouses out down the line.

Last thing is that for some reason CMF and Inc declared war on thrawn?  I really do not understand why they did that since it gives him the boost. I can only guess they found a few units out of position or are trying to force him to come back to defend Asshai-by-the-shadow taking some pressure off TAD's team.

   

Regarding naming conventions I am half tempted to pull names from another series, the Craft Sequence by Max Gladstone.  Not enough named places for us to both use it, but enough for me to use it on my own cities.

Did you upgrade the slinger before the policy change? It looks like your 1st envoy didn't get the 2-for-1 bonus from the card because your screenshot shows 2 envoys, not 3.

The order I did things in was 1. upgrade slinger 2. swap policy, 3. place the new envoy from mysticism.

Turn 57-Gaul
Another city state bits the dust and CMF/Inc declare war on Thrawn. That is a hit as it gets him closer to Civil Service. I still think we try and provoke him on declaring on us to get the boost or maybe I just research it directly and then we can declare if we see an opportunity. 

Nothing really going on at home. Two turn until I chop and settle 3 cities.

The quest is the same as placing an envoy. Your 1st envoy was the upgrade, not the one from Mysticism, and the 2-for-1 policy only works on the first envoy and wasn't in place when the envoy was gained.

So will I gain it next turn, or is it totally messed up? If the latter that seems like a rather silly way to go about it.

Nope, you won't get the free envoy. The policy wasn't in place when the 1st envoy was placed (slinger upgrade). Doesn't work on the 2nd envoy (from Mysticism).

Hmm ok, I wish I had known that, wasn't very obvious. That would mean I would need to find another 2 era points for a golden age.

Turn 58-Gaul
I am bringing my northern galleys home and they spot...
   

Not sure if these galleys are maneuvering for the war with CMK/Inc or if Thrawn is heading down to City III for an attack. Domestically, next turn will be a big turn I chop out the AH, settle 3 cities, and will start building boats. If he is already planning a push on City III, probably won't be able to save the city.
