[PB65 LURKERS] We lurk in single-file to hide our numbers

(January 24th, 2023, 18:02)naufragar Wrote: Pseudo-edit: Pind seems pretty sure it's an attack on him, but isn't Pind like the one neighbor who hasn't annoyed SD yet? No clue.

That, combined with Pindi's report that SD has been nagging in diplo suggests to me that Pindi is indeed the target.

So I whipped two forges instead of LBs, as that's what SaC was slow-building and it will make future whips more efficient.

There was no PW posted because there's none needed.

I have to say, I find the heavy reliance on Fish deals baffling - the extent to which it would be seen as a betrayal to invade during one is vaguely ridiculous. Is t the point of AI diplomacy to avoid the never ending NAPs and force people to rely on actual armies?

I mean it’s signaling, also in FFA you do need to leave a flank undefended so there is an important game in “who to trust”
Also players are incentivized to create peace so that they can go fuck up someone else instead :D
At the end of the day yes it’s meaningless but signaling is important aspect of the game

Sure, but it really seems to take on an emotional resonance for people in a way that seems disproportionate. E.g. Pindi when he thought SD was attacking him despite a deal.

I know there's been a fair amount of discussion about the merits of eating SAC right now, given Cornflakes' emerging position, but it didn't strike home until reading MJMD's latest update just how fragile any conquests will be.

Every city except ZW (in the NE) will be on CF's border. To cover them adequately he'd need to significantly expand his garrisons whereas CF only has to concentrate forces in Citadel. Now, it might look better once his culture expands - but on the other hand, MJMD's spent the entire game pointing out how Arabia's cultural dominance has given him strategic/tactical advantage.

Yeah conquests this game have been a bit of a red herring, geographically indefensible, costly, with poor ROI, and have proven inferior to intensive development and disrupting others development while staying in your blob. Idk how much of that is geographic determinism or just lol Mids/PHI monk economy

Pericles of Arabia is also just a killer combo, one of the first ones I tried in singleplayer unrestricted. Once the Wheel/Mys hump was crossed it starts putting in so much work

Any objection to SD's request? Asking that a lurker ask CF not to login outside his turn.

I don't see the problem with logging in outside your turn, the only meaningful thing you can do is offer and accept deals.

I’d tentatively agree with Tarkeel, but I feel like there could be some information you wouldn’t otherwise know? Or is there? Not sure
