Sigh, more Iowa republicans wanting to ban same-sex marriage.

Heard they were also changing laws over there to let children work dangerous jobs like mining.

That aside, there was quite a good viral interview of a Republican pro-gun senator on Jon Stewart:

See im mixed on kids (teens) being allowed to work other jobs. I get that it can be dangerous in certain fields, but on the otherhand.. if they wanna work. Let them work. I started working at 14 as help for a gas station, and it helped me build a fund for gas/fun stuff and eventually a decent savings. I dont see it devolving into the horrible conditions of child labor of actual 3rd world countries. I mean, thats what those countries are "for"

That last sentence was a little unnecessary superdeath. Surely you dont want the notorious 3rd world child labor standards to stay with humanity forever!

of course not. But its how the world kinda works. Companies/countries are unlikely to change until it becomes unprofitable.

Or politically untenable. People aren't taught the work labor reform took. It took a lot of work and lives.

In general I'm somewhat ok with a summer exception for 14 & 15. HOWEVER. I will note that exactly what type of work they should be allowed to do should be limited. There is quite a history of abusing younger workers.

And now you should understand why America fights against socialism and communism around the world and overthrows democratically chosen governments. The world does not need to work like this, it's just how things are under capitalism and western domination. Why should people from another country give up their natural resources and their labour to fatten a billionaires bank account rather than use them to improve their own peoples quality of life?

America isnt the only country exploiting 3rd world countries. Hell, i sorta doubt that we are the biggest offender. At least not by much

Please, for the love of everything that is good, stop using "third world countries". If you have to make sweeping declarations, use "developing nations".

You're correct that the US is not the only nation to exploit these countries, but it very much is one of the most heavy handed. The US support for right-wing dictators in South America was also heavily motivated by economic factors, as they were willing to privatise (read: sell to US companies at a low cost) most of the infrastructure and resources. You should read up on the original 9/11 some time.

Most recently Bolivia's lithium comes to mind.

Regarding names I'm against the much sanitized/politically correct (or heck, straight up orwellian) "developing nations" term too, as it serves to hide the imperialist hands (as well as puppet "international" organizations like the world bank / IMF) which make sure that the countries in question remain "favorable to investors", i.e. sell their resources, land, and workforce discounted to pay for the loans / debts they were incurred. Neocolonialism works a lot to dress up the "same old" as somehow progressive, charitable, and so on.

Underdeveloped, exploited, or satellite countries is a much more accurate term, as it calls a spade a spade.

First world = west, second world = soviet bloc, third world = non aligned. That it became a pejorative for underdeveloped nations is kind of like woke became a pejorative for anyone overly sensitive on social issues.
