I agree. Grassland gold is equivalent to a grassland forest. Don't understand the fuss.

I don't pretend to understand this comment. I'm guessing you are being sarcastic, but I still get the gold.
T36
Again, I'm reusing songs. This site has the most forests at 5, so it gets roots. Its also going to be the base of my empires commerce, so works.
Not much to say. This site is GREAT. Again, here instead of 1N means I get to work and improve deer right away.
Meanwhile in order to get that T43 settler I mentioned I'm having to do some funny things at my capital. The warrior has actually already lost 1 hammer to decay and it will actually lose 1 more ON PURPOSE. See I need 2 overflow hammers.
In diplo news I get a NAP with SD. You know as I have 0 military units and am delaying my warrior. Now last I knew his warrior as garrisoning his new city, but better to be safe (T37 edit: there is 1 in his capital as well). In general I probably do need to work with him. My 3rd city beat Bings 2nd.............

T39 part way through
Scooter is first person to whip other than me T34.
Bing settled 2nd city T38.
So Bing is probably going to be um weak this game. So how the heck do I keep Charriu in check? Probably by befriending SD who I assume will want to keep Ginger/Scooter in same boat.
So what are some easy ways to work with SD. Well this map is water heavy. A lot of cities will be on the water. I will have 3-4 interior cities and rest will be on the water. So the two wonders that stand out on these types of maps are Collosus and Great Lighthouse. I'm not going tech path for Collosus, but it wouldn't be that hard to fit in Great Lighthouse.
Obviously not being protective it pays to have a trading partner and give them a cut. I think I should approach SD about some kind of deal on the subject. If he isn't contesting Collosus but wants Great Lighthouse I would also be fine receiving the payments in that relationship. After all that means more worker turns going towards more cities / HG.
Make sense to you Pin?

Sorry, I've had a couple stressful days trying to coordinate with family and getting some household projects done.
I think that makes some sense to me. I guess I'm wondering how close to the chest you want to play some of this stuff. Like wonder stuff it can be a good idea to bring this up with SD as long as you are reasonably sure your plans are going to align.

All Good
T46-47
Settled T46. Tied Imp SD who settled T45.
I have to say I've been BLESSED with better spots than my opponents as far as I know. I'm in too much of a rush to look through maps now, but I know gold location someone else had a clam or crab instead of fish and I think its Scooter/Ginger who have a similar spot to this one except the fish is NW. Anyways, this city will likely be responsible for a settler for the deer sheep city. Probably before granary (because it has plenty of food).
I had a couple conundrums. I meant to ask Pin about settling spots for next city. I was debating between the two spots noted and also between if I was settling one of those spots or Food Port first. Food Port would have had to be unconnected on settle like WhereToGoJohnny, but its a stronger spot, BUT not by that much as I think I've decided to settle the 2 seafood plus horse spot. I was leaning heavily to the plains hill spot until the horse showed up. Roots can pop out two workers and they can help get to the FoodPort spot.
I'm going to try to catch my sim up one last time as I want to see if I can squeeze out another quick settler after the current one or if I can squeeze in a granary instead. Basically whatever timing makes more sense with workers from Roots.
I also tanked for longer than I should have on writing vs sailing. I still have two good spots to settle on the mainland and that along with my UB made me decide on writing. Even with the gold I have to imagine the 3 non econ people are all probably going sailing and prob Bing as well, so I'll get more KTBs (some may go religious line instead but eh). I'll get caught up on diplo events sometime soon* but I know SD is.
Edit: almost forgot demos. See food stat, which is only one Mjmd looks at this early.

Being #2 in the other stats while also being #1 in food is a pretty darn good opening.

Its not morning, but its my last non site specific name from PB67 and I do plan on rambling a bit. You can technically skip ahead to 2:15 in this video if you want to skip the rambling....
First to 5 cities, but I wouldn't be shocked if SD settled another either this turn or next.
So there are are a lot of places this city could have gone, but at the end of the day I placed it here for 2 grasslands to the south (1hill and 1 flat) as well as sharing capital tiles. This is a giveaway that my capital WILL NOT be a commerce city this game. Instead EarlyInMorning and Lost Coastlines will fill that function (and many other cities on this map). Capital will grow cottages for those two but I plan on making it into my GP farm long term.
That begs the question where is the Heroic Epic city. Sadly there is only one answer and that is the Maoi city. Which is why unless otherwise confined by worker labor I will be settling the norther spot on the stone island for extra hill. You don't really want your maoi city to be your heroic epic city because you also want to build econ buildings there but ah well. I did it in PB63 my last Tarkeel map as well.
I was going to do a worker out of Roots at size 4 and then realized I should just get my early wonder UB online asap. Capital is building one in the background INSTEAD of a granary...........

ha, i was going to suggest moving your dot to that 5th city spot but decided to back off the suggestion because then the filler city to its north gets really meh. But I do like the spot if you want to fill in the best locations first and then let the fillers be whatever.

Always feel free to suggest.
But yes basically I'm settling all the "good" mainland cities which will be the main commerce centers of my empire later on. Both for time it takes to work cottage, time to get all the infrastructure up, and the fact most of the time* these cities have the best food anyways I like settling those types of cities first.
