Ok Pin question for you. How important is it to immediately go claim island between me and Bing. I originally assumed I had all the time in the world. I suspected I might settle it before stone island, but now I might actually bump it up??? Not like I can't conquer it later and I do hate whipping galleys.

Reason I'm asking is I can either finish granary next turn or two turn a worker with overflow. The city does not desperately need a granary, but if I'm whipping a galley it makes sense.

I realized either way I shouldn't have put a turn into the horse this turn. I instead should connect ivory for happiness asap even if I end up doing two workers in a row out of roots I'll still want it to grow back to 5 or 6 before whipping which means growing into anger currently.

I haven't noticed Bing being all that close to the gems jungle island from your screenshots, or are you talking about something else? How far out would be your normal settling time for this island without Bing there? And does Bing have Sailing yet?

From what I see on screenshots I don't think there's much of a risk of him taking it, but like you said it would be a major pain to try and retake. I would try to settle some of the better foodhammer spots on the mainland first unless you think there's a real risk that Bing is gearing up to snipe one of them. The jungle island is workable since you can just make it a fishing village until IW comes in - and obviously the stone is great on its own - but I am usually still thinking about growth curve at this point in the game.

Sorry I wasn't clear on which island and forget you aren't in my head and I haven't actually done a map breakdown.

Basically there are north and south neighbors and then inbetween the non bordered civs there is a little 4 tile? island chain going east west. So both of my 4 tile links are in the south. My one with Bing is SW of Roots you can barely see. I've already told Scooter / Bing I'm not going to contest the one to the east as they went Buddhism and I'm assuming are oakling either MC or knowing Ginger machinery (also makes sense with China).

I have a settler started in Lost Coastlines, but I could whip the library there instead if I wanted to delay settling to start those GP pts ticking up. The cost of a galley in Roots is 1 worker for sure, but I could delay for 2. Obviously I should eventually start these things called cottages. Or that first worker could go help improve the eastern city faster.

Edit: have I mentioned I have no units to defend such a plant. I could be a dick mind you and do an NAP going into a contested zone, but A) he might* figure out what I'm going to do and say no and B) its kind of a dick move.

Edit x2: I'm leaning towards at least delaying it by 1 workers worth of time.

Ah, I see them now. Do you know what's on them yet? If not then let's try to scout them ASAP. I think we want to settle the better resources first and stay focused on the growth curve

This helped. Rather than plant a city I can't defend on a contested island I'll first settle the stone island as it doesn't need defenders. That is a good city to get going anyways and getting started on maoi sooner is obviously good. My plan was to send new worker to Lost coastlines to improve the dry cow anyways and with whip anger and all the floodplains Lost Coastlines doesn't really need the fish atm anyways. I forgot to redo notes but plan on settling northern spot on that island.

Scooter/Ginger (hereafter called S/G) got Oracle into MC as predicated. Colossus is good enough on this map I don't think they wanted to mess around going all the way to machinery. I'm not positive they have competition, but still. To note no one has built Stonehenge meaning they likely* get? I'm vaguely wondering about AP and honestly its my backup plan if I don't get HG is to quickly tech priesthood. UB flexibility is nice.

SD founded Hinduism and Charriu got first GS this turn.

A great port deserves a song about a great port. Mind you I'm not sure how much it will be used as a port, but at the very least to help settle the gem island eventually. BTW I turned off tech. I realized I have time to complete a library or two first. I basically want masonry for HG anyways so going to build Great Lighthouse for fail gold, but I'm a bit far away from starting it. I might actually message SD to ask on timing.

Ah glorious empire of no cottages T63. Going to have to change that soon........ I'll soon have 4 workers for 8 cities. CLASSIC. At least I'm not building grassland mines not on a river like Bing. His expansion has been better this game, but that one confused me.

Speaking of Bing he hasn't been reporting much and its relevant for my future expansion decision on timing for island. I'm pretty sure on notes below. I'll be interested to see if an axe or some such is headed down. I'm assuming he is settling somewhere down near Charriu border.

Edit: note about road first is for me back home, but speaking of I'm not sure why that road is there unless its for a city soon.

Lurkers fix this. It took my brain a second on the first part of this. I basically went "good" to "wait" to "DOH"

I just stole a worker from Charriu/Grillo

[*]Also am I blocking you from joining the game?

MjmdToday at 9:38 PM
nice

[*]not sure what happned

[*]I'll wait

[*]no rush

[*]uhh El Grillo hadn't finished his turn yet

so you shouldn't have declared war

[*]BING_XI_LAOToday at 9:45 PM
Doesn't seem to say that in the rules

So logging in and out claims that part of the turn?

[*]MjmdToday at 9:45 PM
I mean unless its like a second yes

I'm guessing El Grillo's note on needing to contact Charriu was about your skirmisher

[*]BING_XI_LAOToday at 9:46 PM
Yes but it#s not a double move on my end

[*]that road wasn't built when the skirm first moved next to it

[*]MjmdToday at 9:47 PM
defender is allowed to double move

BING_XI_LAOToday at 9:48 PM
I'm reading the etiquette and don't see this stuff there

[*]MjmdToday at 9:50 PM
I don't think I've ever seen a war dec DURING someones turn

[*]I think that is a given

[*]the thing to do in this game would have been to inform lurkers and switch it to sequential

[*]you can always ask in your thread; don't have to take my word [Image: da3651e59d6006dfa5fa07ec3102d1f3.svg]

[*]lord knows I've been wrong on these things before

[*]but I don't think I am here (but then again I never do lol)

[*]BING_XI_LAOToday at 9:52 PM
I've always hated these turnsplit rules

And not really understood them
[*]

MjmdToday at 9:54 PM
that is one reason I started PB65 as sequential

[*]I guess we never said when war was declared switch, but that was intent

BING_XI_LAOToday at 9:56 PM

MjmdToday at 9:59 PM
ya post in your thread

[*]I'm not sure what the proper untangle is here and honestly since I'm playing I shouldn't be involved in that decision anyways

BING_XI_LAOToday at 10:04 PM
Not moving the worker away is questionable, so I don't feel entitled to it. But definitely have questions about turnsplit rules...

MjmdToday at 10:05 PM
In a sequential it's easier because it should be sequential, but we were playing normal for early speed reasons

Lord knows I've been part of / seen "stuff" in simultaneous games though
Reply

Its super weird because Bing should be first in a war once sequential is enabled and should have contacted lurkers last turn. In a non sequential game I think we reload to El Grillos log out and just continue.

In a sequential game???? Do we reload to start of this turn, doubt it as Charriu may have made different decisions last turn seeing the skrim. So do reload to Charriu turn last turn, also seems iffy as reveals intent. Reload to beginning of last turn?

Evidently Bing told El Grillo "something", but ya some kind lurker may want to ask Bing if something above isn't clear.

Sorry, didn't sleep too well yesterday and missed your post. 4 workers on 8 cities is a tad light. I think with good planning you can get away with 1 to 1 ratio or slightly under
