[Spoilers] Pindicator's Nice Thread

Ultimate Goal is to get the "Superdeath half" of Bing.  Everything that Superdeath owned before the war, and I'm throwing in Gav's ex-city of Mediolanum as well:

Mediolanum is probably a bit of a fuzzy area in the split. I want it but if Commodore gets it ahead of me then I won't throw too big a fit.

We both can't log in to Civ at the same time but we could try Discord. Although my evenings on the 23rd and 24th are going to be busy as well.

The plan is probably going to change between now and then too. But if you don't feel comfortable then just play up until the war turn, wait for Commodore declare on t191, and then say you think the game should be paused until i get back due to in game developments. Or something like that

No real production cities. ALL flat land especially capital kept me having to whip and build whip anger. At my height, i was at 2.5 "actual" production cities. i had a couple forests in the capital, but not having any real passive production was really felt. Someone who micros every little step of the game probably could have done better, but to save you some reading in my thread later.. Id bet 100$ that no one would have won from my position without incompetent neighbors.

That allllllllllllllllllllllllllll being said. Rooting for you.

I feel similar about my start - the northern land was not kind to starts. The only reason I'm in this is because I'm still not sure what happened with Gavagai. Rome should have squashed me like a bug this game.

Six turns until war. Three(?) turns until vacation.

Naufrager wants me to attack Magic Science. I remember a vague promise of helping him out there before, but in reality I don't see how I have any avenues to attack MS before Astronomy. I'm not sure Naufrager cares. I also consider Naufrager to be the current leader of this game, score notwithstanding, so I don't really feel bad about shirking this earlier attempt. Or perhaps Commodore has just been better at keeping his proposal concrete, what with the daily reminders. He sent the 6 to me this turn; I'll send him a 5 next.

So I sent Naufrager a War with Magic Science in 20 turns trade. I'm sure he'll love that.

Naufrager picked up Music this turn. Military Tradition has to be next.

Got a good look at 4 wounded Triremes for Bing. I'm not sure about my Optics idea; maybe it's better to just press straight on to Rifling. Bing is also teching Gunpowder at the moment; all my courthouses have let me get some tech sight on him.

EDIT: Music next! I want to Build Culture in Snorks so he doesn't have sight on my ships!

Trying to keep an eye on where Bing's knights go. This is going to be a big factor in how I approach the war.

This is about half of Bing's knights, and they're stationed in a very favorable location for us.

Looks like he's gearing up more to defend against Magic Science with that placement.

And once again I would like to stress that I do not like this and this alone makes me glad to attack Bing:

At some point we're going to need triremes, but if I can just take out Nibru on the first turn of the war with my knights then that will stop any naval invasion in its tracks.

Commodore's either pushed back the war a turn or we're not on the same page. He sent a message this turn showing 5 turns to go, which would put us at 192 now.

I'm saving gold this turn and will send gold equal to the turn number next turn to confirm it with him. An extra turn would be fine with me, but I'll be ready to go whether it's 191 or 192 or 195.

Naufrager is also trying to enlist me in his war, and I'm tempted to agree just to get him and MS fighting:

Of course, that could also backfire in naufrager getting rolled. He needs to build military when he gets Conquistadors in and then fight with that advantage. If he thinks 5 turns is quick enough for him to field/upgrade to then that's perfect timing. Otherwise he shouldn't rush.

I sent him a message back reiterating that i am 20 turns out. At best. Realistically longer, as no war ever goes as smoothly as anticipated. (Although my Bing war in 65 certainly did...)

Commodore's troop disposition:

I forgot that the Germany UU is available early, and he does not actually need to tech Mil Sci. That is huge; he can just go straight on to Steel now if he wants to stay on the bottom half of the tree.

I assume everything is going to move to the front at the last moment, but I'm also keeping my stuff in the east as long as possible.

Bing settler in the west:

Edit: I think the settler is heading to the northwest, to the ruins of Superdeath's former Moai city.

The knights appear to be headed back for his core, which is great to see.

Not to be a complainer about free food, but this might be the most useless location this event could have triggered:

Thundercats is already working all the tiles it will work.  It might steal the horse from My Little Pony, but how can you take a horse away from that city in all good conscience?  And this extra food won't get it to work another specialist, so ....

Bing has built up one city and has a settler on the way:

I'm sending my sentry elephant back home, and for once it feels like have the sentry promotion on a slow moving unit is going to work in my favor.  We should be running through the important parts of Bing's lands right as we need to get the information the most.  But it still appears most of the knights have gone back into Bing's core, leaving only defensive garrison-style units for his conquests.

Starting to get into the details of how we build up to the war.  This turn I'm going more in depth on Lion Force:

I should be able to get 4 galleys onto the tile marked "galley 190" by building a pair of forts.  Next turn the workers circled in blue will build a fort on the Silver tile marked "fort 189" and the galleys in Ghostbusters move to that tile. Then on t190 the same workers build a fort on "fort 190" and all 4 galleys will meet up at the tile marked "galleys 190". Then on 191 we move to the "galley 191" staging tile.

Meanwhile, the theatre in Snorks is due to finish eot189 and borders pop eot190. We will turn the free mercantile specialist into an artist here. If Bing has neglected culture in Ur then we should have full control of the tiles in dashed lines to the west of Snorks. My force of 6 maces along with 1 longbow and 1 pike will load onto the galleys on t190. This number may change, but I'm expecting the pikes to go to Ur, and I want 2x maces attacking amphibious per unit inside the city. I'll have more pikes and longbows behind waiting to load up and reinforce the city, depending on what I see with my sentry elephant.

Edit: If for some reason we don't get control of the tiles marked in the dashed lines, and Bing would have vision on the galley 191 tile, then we will just delay this all a turn and move the galleys into his vision on the same turn that I attack (t192).

Grumpy Force is a little easier: all the large stacks will move into Care Bears on t191 and the fireworks happen t192. More on that next turn as that's the half that is going to require a bit more finesse.

Hard to tell on the screenshot, but it looks like Ur has no culture buildings.

Thanks Pindi. Next turn is the last turn you can play?

There's a turn up now (190) that I can play today. I might be able to play 191 if it rolls quickly but I'm trying to play about the same time as Commodore because we're both going to be on the same side of the war split when that happens on 192
