That's a lot of green.  Do I make eastward expansion my priority now?  I think Thoth came from that direction - but then again I saw Thoth in a war with Krill (eh, could have just been scout wars).  Really it matters if there is anyone to the south of that.

But that's a lot of riverside green tiles.

I had to check; Thoth is to the south of that area, but Pin should be able to claim it.

Anyone disagree we need to change this over to sequential NOW? I'm giving it an hour then posting in thread.

Super awkward. I wish my brain had registered when Yuris said he had attack plans earlier. We could have just done the T60 switch.

If we do that, aren't we alerting everybody that someone's plotting to attack?

Deterministic combat seems mildly exploitable for maximized XP gain, not that it breaks anything.

it 100% is and that is why these games should probably just have a set EARLY turn to switch over. The allure of turn pace is so strong though.........

In any case I don't think there is an argument for having a war in a sequential game in simultaneous mode. I know its IMPLIED and we ran into this issue in PB70 as well, but for a sequential game it should be done. It was mentioned a couple of times in tech thread in recent days (including by Yuris) that switch should happen before first war. Why he didn't contact a lurker at the time and just had one of us confirm T60 is beyond me.

Interesting. Last pic SD posted, he didn't even know where Yuris was, so does he know how crap land he will gain from this? Most likely not.

The problem with an early rush is if your opponent responds you are left with a bunch of units that you NEED to do SOMETHING with as you've put a lot of your early resources in.

Kinda fun to see SD slam units into someone. He's somewhat lost that reputation over the last 10ish games.

I don't think that's right; it's probably more that most of them have been underreported.

PB70:
The map was designed to not encourage slaming ancient age units at each other, but he still picked a civ that could do so.
PB69:
He played the start wrong and didn't have any production with which to produce units.
PB67: Game was aborted, but he did set up for an always-war scenario.
PB66:
From the perspective of another player; SD did build up a very predictable knight-army and slammed it into a very prepared neighbor, with predictable results. He got lucky that Vanrober overcomitted on the counter, and was able to break through, but he didn't really make enough gains here. AFAICT, neither party reported this war much.
PB65: Attack was telegraphed from the moment he picked Byzantium, and all his neighbors were prepared for it.
PB64: IIRC; he did slam into Gav, but he'd also given up on this one from misplaying his lands.
PB63: Holkan-rushed krilldicator, and failed to benefit from it.
PB62: Chariot-rushed Nauf on first contact, without any knowledge of what he was attacking into. Got extremely lucky, and yet nothing to show for it but a crippled Frogger.
PB60: Map was designed to not be rushable; still picked Cathy of Egypt and tried to rush someone, but failed.
PB59: Backstabbed joshy with horchers.
PB58: Slammed randomly into Jowy near the end, settling the game for us.

That's the last 11 games.

To be fair about pb60 the players didn't know it had been set up as non rush able. We were just told tile count, which was same count as pb62. And those two games are a great example of how water amount and shape can affect how maps look.
