[Spoilers] Pindicator's Nice Thread

190

Well this is awful timing, but Dropbox does not seem to be working for me. The stuff I've already uploaded seems to be unaffected, but anything new is getting a rlkey argument added on to the end of the shared link and my usual approach of removing the dl=0 argument and replacing it with raw=1 does not seem to be working. Hopefully I can find a resolution here soon but I'll try to write out what is going on instead.

Most Important Instruction for Qgqqqq: Post a screenshot of the F4 tech screen for every turn.

Diplomacy

Naufrager has Military Tradition now, and this is the last turn of his golden age. I expect he attacks Magic Science soon.

Bing sent us a weird trade request, offering Pig, Clams, Dye and Ivory for our Marble. I wasn't sure if this was code or not, but in the end offered it back to him.

Commodore has his troops exactly where I expect them to be for an invasion of Bing in 2 turns.

Technology
I decided that Optics and Caravels were going to be more important for this war than Gunpowder, so I am detouring. Compass finished last turn and Optics is due in 2. There are work boats being built in Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony meant for the whales at Thundercats. After that those cities should make a Caravel each and then go back to Knight production. Once Optics is in there are a number of cities that should make Caravels: Voltron, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, and Ghostbusters. In the east, I probably want to get 3 or 4 out and then hide them from Magic Science. Don't worry about using them yet, just hide them where he can't see how many I've built.

After Optics, Gunpowder is next followed by saving gold on Rifling. Might not get Rifles so soon after all, it depends.

Don't fire the Golden Age when the third Great Person arrives. I'm not sure yet on the timing for that but I want to make sure I can switch to Nationalism & Representation at the end. Prefer to also get Emancipation but we'll see.

Scouting

Nothing in Superdeath's lands. I am leaning against using a Great Artist now, as everything is likely in the south at Bing's core and Commodore should be the one grappling with the bulk of that. (For those of you wondering why I would agree to a split of Bing like this where I get less, this is why: I am doing less work. Commodore is likely the one who will be fighting the hardest and so I should be able to get my stuff conquered and consolidated much faster.)

Technically I see 2 knights. There's a pike + longbow in Nibru and a pike + axe in Ur. Another longbow seen heading south towards Bing's core.

Staging: Lion Force

I messed up the fort plan, so I'm just abandoning it. There will be 2 galleys with the strike force of 4 maces. If Bing doesn't add any more troops to Ur then we're fine with just 4 maces. If the culture expands out covering the Sheep and the Copper then we can move the galleys up on 191. Otherwise we move them up on 192.

The units we garrison Ur with will come from the galleys in Ghostbusters. Next turn we need to load up 2 longbows, 1 pike, and 1 elephant there. Those galleys need to stay in Ghostbusters until the war starts.

Staging: Grumpy Force

Everything goes into Care Bears on t191. There's the large slow-mover stack by Transformers, and the Knight+HA stack in He-Man - both those need to go into Care Bears next turn. There's a smaller catapult stack in Heathcliff that is being held there in reserve; leave that catapult group in Heathcliff for now.

Production

The strong production cities that are building knights should continue to build knights. Rainbow Brite and My Little Pony should go back to knights after their work boats are done. Weaker cities are building pikes & catapults and should continue those at about a 50/50 split. Cities noted above are going to build Caravels: Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Voltron, and Ghostbusters.

I'll try to get Dropbox links working again...

Is it a subscription issue? I noticed that my links to Dropbox stopped working when they made that a part of their subscription service.

That might be it.  I notice that my previous links are still working, but images I upload today have a new rlkey argument in the link.  In any case, I'm done fighting with Dropbox and I'm going to be switching hosting services.  Testing some OneDrive hosting here:

Commodore played before Bing, so I went right after him. Next turn will be the same: take the cue from Commodore and see if he goes for first half or second half of hte turn split. He has moved his forces up:

Commodore has also moved some sentry units in place to raze Bing's cities in his Sumeria conquest.

I'm afraid this is very transparent and it's going to lead to Bing moving up his knights to cover. The chariot should be able to take on the axe inside of Uruk and Zimbir is empty. With the prospect of Commodore razing cities up here I did start a settler in He-Man.

The culture did not expand as I hoped, and so I just decided to move up the galleys anyway. I don't know why but the maces are showing inside the city even though they are loaded on the galleys. If Bing can see this I'm not sure if this would be a good thing for me or not. I suppose I should be more upset that i didn't get the culture.

I also moved everything up to their staging points.

Here's how I see this war playing out: Commodore is going to get the main brunt of Bing's defense. We should be able to take Nib4u and Ur on the first turn of the war and then our knights will race through the north and should capture most of Sumeria. Might start running into real resistance west of Uruk. If Uruk and Zimbir are razed (Uruk has The Great Lighthouse btw) then we might even have an easier time as I could see Bing giving up on those lands. My slow movers will largely stay near Nibru and move south to take Medialunum. My knights will try to race across the top half and gain as much land as I can get before finding somewhere fall into a standoff and let my catapults catch up.

I dont' think I'll have ot use my catapults unless Bing sends a real force into the north. This should be a very easy war, at least at first. It could get complicated if Magic Science decides to grab some of Bing ... and yet, I don't think that will happen. Ideally I will be able to sweep through the north with my knights and then hold the lands at a point somewhere around New Eridu. Do not use the Great Artist at Nibru, I don't think it's necessary yet.

I don't think MS will be a problem, because naufrager declared war this turn:

Qgqqqqq, any questions? Do you feel confident enough to take this on next turn? Or should we ask for a pause after Commodore plays his t192?

Just to be clear, for Grumpy Force Knights should try to take Nibru on t192, and the slow movers should go towards Mediolunum - though there is no rush for Medio so perhaps look to see if Bing has anything in the area that can strike back first. For Lion Force the maces need to promote to CR2 and attack amphibiously to take Ur, with the spear + longbow galley in Ghostbusters used to garrison the city after.

From there, slow movers will take Mediolunum when it is safe to do so and the knights are going to race through the north to take what they can before Bing can set up adequate defenses

Edit: I will have good internet connection the next 2 days so you can always post pics here ahead of time or on Discord ( my user ID is the same on Discord, with #7714 after) and I'll see them. From Saturday through Tuesday I'll have spotty infrequent connections, and then I'll be back late Tuesday to take over.

Edit 2: Stressing again that there's no problem with us taking a pause here if you aren't 100% comfortable taking on war turns

Just had a thought: there's a good chance he has a healthy garrison at Mediolanum - perhaps even a knight force - due to its positioning. If you do play the war, then the first thing you should do after declaring is send the unpromoted horse archer to see what is in that city. If there's a huge force there then that will change how I would approach the war.

As long as the units are actually on the boat, they won't show up to other players.

I feel comfortable playing. I'll log in later today and see if I have any questions, but your reports cover everything I was thinking of.

I'll add you on steam.

I'm hoping my time zone (Auckland) won't cause any issues either immediately or when you get home.
